Food: OK, but leaving hungry after four courses. Same as last time: we wished they at least could serve more bread, or at least some more potatoes for the main course? I’ve never experienced being hungry after a four course dinner in a other restaurant....And there are many other places to eat (in Trondheim) with more (and better food….)More

We had the five course menu, the food and wine was excellent as you would expect at this price point. Unfortunately our main waiter (who also seemed to be the head waiter that evening) spoke neither English nor Norwegian particularly well, was not very service...oriented and seemed generally impatient. The rest of the staff were lovely.More

Access is via a very steep staircase. Not for the disabled. There was a lot of noise from other guests as well as from the background music. Other guests having speeches...Unfortunately we got a very bad seating. I expected more from the 5 course menu...than the restaurant was able to give. The food was just ok. I recommend the char, it tasted very good. Otherwise, I did not think the combinations were so good, they were a bit strange. My expectations was way much higher than what was delivered. The wine pairings was also a bit odd..like cold red wine. Champagne was fantastic :-)More

Very nice venue, very nice staff. Food: ok. Very salty main course. Not enough salt and bland appetiser. Wine was exceptionally good, but not value for money. Had a burger afterward from an amazing fast food joint.

We looked foreward to a good dinner at a small, intimate, modern restaurant. Our party counted 3 persons. As we sat down another party og 25 (!) arrived filling up the whole room, not to speak of the noice this large party represented. Our small...party har to rise out voices to trying to leaa a conversation. This serously diminished our experience. We paid for our first glass of wine, got the fist cource on the house and left.More

A supplier invited me here after a business meeting in Trondheim. I was really looking forward to earing here. Unfortunately the reality did not match the expectation. We had the five course set menu which, like the three course alternative, is based on available local...fresh ingredients. The waitress was charming and attentive. The first 3 courses were good, the accompanying bread delicious. However the ‘main’ course, lamb, was terrible. It was tough, chewy and tasteless. The two with me had the same opinion. I told the waitress if my disappointment and thought that perhaps someone from the kitchen might come out and see what the problem was, but no.More

Great food in relaxed atmosphere. I had the gyoza (which was more cauliflower soup with a small gyoza), chicken confit, and strawberries. The chicken is the best I ever had

The bistro is small and stylish, entry through a narrow alley and up dark stairs into an attractive bar, and open kitchen. Through glass doors into the bistro, nice ambience with lighting and candles and comfortable seating. We chose the snug table in the corner....The menu is simple. There are 5 courses and if you prefer you can choose any 3 courses. We chose 3 courses of crab gyozo with shrimp hollandaise in a bisque-type broth, roast turbot, chicken with risotto and mushrooms (NOK 500 pp), and the wine pairing at NOK 345 pp. The Chablis was especially good with the turbot. We had our coffees in the bar. Expensive but a very pleasant couple of hours, with delicious food and wine.More

We booked the bistro as the main restaurant was fully booked. Finding the restaurant was a bit confusing, as it is in a small alley. There is no sign provided that points you up the stairs, this would be a nice welcoming addition. While we...provided upfront information in the online booking form that one of us was a pescatarian; this information was not considered. The menu is limited to 5 dishes plus ramen (6 choices in total). The menu proposal is 3 (500 NOK) or 5 dishes (750 NOK). There is no free choice for the three courses; then your option is ‘à la carte’. The dishes served were average and the ramen lacked flavour. Note that if you don’t go for the set menu; bread is not provided and needs to be ordered specifically (which is quite uncommon in Norway). When one runs a bistro on the back of a Michelin star; the quality of food and service needs to dramatically improve.More

I had made a reservation for the Fagn Bistro because of the good reviews . When I entered 2 min. early, I was asked to wait until my table was cleared and the waiter went away. When he didn't return after ten minutes (several other...new arrivals had been seated in the meantime), I asked another waiter about progress. He then pointed to the table that I was standing next to for all the time, which was right behind the entrance - everybody getting in passed that table (I thought that I was in a waiting room not in the actual restaurant). I declined politely and went to Le Bistro where I had a wonderful meal.More

This restaurant have to different sections, one bistro and a restaurant. I am reviewing the restaurant. We chose a 10 course meal with the accopanied wine package. We got 13 meals in total and the food were exciting. Beautiful colors and flavours. They have probably...gotten idea from Alinea (Chicago) where they had "hidden" food on the table that acctually was a dish, was a funny treat. The accopanied wine were all very good choices. The only thing that i can put my finger on was their duckliver dish but i am not a big fan of either duck/goose liver and that their coffee was not very strong but i guess we all have individual preferances. The dishes were both with a good variety with seafood and meat. With "hidden food", colors and different textures. We also got a breakfast bag at the end of the evening. The price for the the meal pr person is about 2000kr. Some will se that this is expensive but i will say that it's totally worth it. And yes i am going back in 3 weeks for the 18-20 course meal. Recommended both for couples, family and friends.More

The three course menu at NOK 400 is a bargain. You pick your choice from a number of different courses - try the lamb! Superb! Attentive service as well - you can't go wrong.

I cannot express it how much i loved the dinign experience. Chef Jonas is amazing and the restaurant concept is fine dining on the ground floor and bistro on upper level. Restaurant was not stiffy, very hommy, less focus on decoratives and more focus on...service and cuisine. They do not have waiters chefs will engage and interact with you on a very personalized level and they will ensure to take your orders and serve the orders. Their table side preparations of some dishes are cutting edge. Oveall mind blowing experience.More
