I enjoy the food in Scandinavia but sometimes it is so clean and precise that it lacks excitement. Mother India's cuisine is clean and fresh but bursting with flavor. I had the tiger prawns in a spicy curry and I am hungry for more. I live in Los Angeles and I only wish that we had a place like Mother... More

Mother India is the Indian restaurant in Oslo that has held the longest. The reason for this is that they always deliver food to a high standard when it comes to Indian tastes. I have been a regular guest since the 90s and have become good friends with. the owner, who is in the restaurant most of the time. I... More

We have eaten here before and the food is average (personally I prefer other restaurants) but we decided to try it again. Its always busy at mother indian which can only mean one thing, the Norwegians love this place!! Anyway as we walked in it was very busy, tables are very close together and feels like you are eating with... More

I have visited several Indian restaurants in Oslo, and Mother India continues to be my favorite. Great food, attentive staff and a charming can-do attitude. The place is popular, table reservation is warmly recommended.

I can only recommend this restaurant. Though a bit narrow the staff solved our problems getting a baby trolley inside and was generally very helpful. The food was lovely and we will definitely come back.

Authentic and very tasty. A small starter is included (bread and 3 sauces) in the prize. Highly recommended this place!

Intimate and authentic restaurant. Loved the food, and it is amongst the best Indian restaurants in Oslo. Reservation recommended, visited on a Tuesday in January and some were rejected at the door.

My husband and I were passing through Oslo on our way back to London and the restaurant we were wanting to try was closed on Monday nights so on sort of a whim we decided to go for Indian food. We honestly did not have particularly high expectations for an Indian restaurant in Oslo, Norway. But this is one of... More

Mother India is Norway’s oldest Indian restaurant. Run by the Sharma family the restaurant opened its door in 1993, and has been with the same family in the same location ever since. We are proud of this, but also humble to our guests' expectations of us.We regard ourselves as cultural ambassadors of India through the food we serve. Hence, as our guest you are not a customer but part of our family. We constantly source our ingredients from different suppliers, searching for the very best. That is why we also blend our own spice mixtures. This gives our food a unique flavor, and the recipes are a well kept secret.
