The location is probably lovely on a pretty day. However, it was rainy so we had to focus exclusively on food and service. The service was very poor. Inattentive and uninterested. At these prices I would expect more. My son said that the oysters were...delicious so I need to mention that. The rest of the food was average. I said I had a shellfish allergy and ordered the soup. I asked twice what was in it and the shrimp was never mentioned. Luckily I noticed it right away. Maybe they just had an off night. Post covid the restaurant business is tough.More

Dear ColumbusCohn, Thank you for your feedback. I'm really sorry the service didn't live up to the expectations and was inattentive, especially when it comes to allergies and dietary needs. I'm sure, as you point out, that it was just an off night, but I...More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant when we asked for fresh seafood that was close by. We had 2 lobster cappuccinos, the mussels and shrimp. The portions were ample enough to share and we were very pleased. The preparation is straightforward and classic so don’t expect...anything elaborate. The beverage selection was good, our service was pleasant and the value was fair. We particularly liked looking out over the harbor. Overall a great choice that met our demands perfectly.More

Warmly welcomed, but followed by very poor service. The waiter only spoke English, fine with us, but she should have asked if ordering in English would be ok for us. She forgot to fill up our glasses, we had to ask her several times for...mire wine/ water. The food- a decent but overpriced lobster cappuccino The fish soup was boring , too few pieces of fish and too much liquid. The”big” version seemed just to be a larger bowl with liquid. Tasteless. The other mains arrived on cold plates , the food ( salmon and monkfish) acceptable but not at all special. The salmon was served with a tiny portion of too salty wok vegetables. We decided to skip dessert , needless to say. We had asked for a quiet table, but when the guests at the neighboring table arrived, it was difficult to converse, even if we were only 2 couples. Never again , overpriced , poor service, boring food , loud.More

A lucky pick for lunch. The menu is limited, but with some very willing adjustments to accommodate some dietary issues, the four of us had a great lunch. The fish soup and hake ( I think) were delicious. The waiter even satisfied our wish for...ice tea ( a teapot and glasses of ice). Fun to watch the people walking by also.More

Lofoten is an excellent seafood restaurant. We dined there twice during our recent week in Oslo (July 2023) just as we did during our previous stays in Oslo. We had the fish soup and shared the large shellfish platter both of which were out-of-this-world good!...Great food, superb service and wonderful ambience! A can’t miss! We highly recommend this restaurant!More

Expensive and bad dining experience! We were out with work and had chosen food for everyone in advance, simply Large shellfish platters for all 16. We arrived at the restaurant and got a table outside, luckily protected from the rain which was just about to...stop. The food was a little late, but after a while drinks orders were taken. The drink came, but not water, we had to ask for that, all the time. So let me get this out of the way first, they were simply terrible at filling up with water. It happened a maximum of two or three times throughout the whole evening. So, I had to go and fetch water for us several times. Then to the white wine, it was too hot. It was perhaps 10-13 degrees when it was served, and immediately 2-3 degrees warmer when it arrived in the glass. The food looked brilliant when it was served. When we pay almost NOK 1,000 per portion, we expected no less. So, what about the food? The lobster was cooked in water with too little salt and the meat was dry, simply tasteless. The crab claws were small but tasted ok. The prawns were ok, but they were not fresh. The mussels were a chapter by themselves. To start, about 40% of them were not fully cooked, so we couldn’t eat them. In addition, about 50% of all shells had limestone tubes, the home of worms. It is perfectly fine if you scrape off the top of the limestone tubes, so that the worm inside is removed before boiling. In this kitchen that was not done. You will certainly not want the taste of this in the meal. The oysters were very good. Since oysters are served natural, it's really a compliment to the producer/supplier, For the meal we got baguettes/bread, but we got far too little. To sum it up: No no no! Do not visit this place. There are several other restaurants in Oslo that serve the same type of dish. I look forward to trying one of the others and will never visit Lofoten Fish Restaurant again if I have the choice.More
