Was in Oslo for work purposes and a friend had been here a couple years before and said it was decent. I looked it up and being a short walk from my hotel, I took a punt on it. Location was important, mainly as it...was -14c out! Decided given that it was near a well known spot that a visit on my first evening on Monday night and early arrival was best. Just in case. So I was in the door shortly after 7pm and a nice lady directed me to a table promptly. At this point only a couple of other tables were occupied, but the place filled out steadily over the course of my stay. The interior was small, with probably about a dozen tables or so. So if you do visit of an evening, especially the time of year I was here, then a similar approach to my own might be advisable. Went for a main meal, no starter and a beer. The main was a carbonara type dish, but with the Norwegian twist of some Reindeer included. This was very good. Decent portion. Fresh, pasta just right and the sauce not overly rich. The reindeer was a nice addition too. The beer was a local hoppy IPA, which annoyingly I didn't note the name of (very unlike me). Sorry! Having eaten, the offer of a dessert and me having some room left on the company's meals expenses for the evening proved too tempting, so I accepted, going for the Verdens Beste (worlds best). This was excellent and was added to my ever growing list of nice desserts I can't get at home. Bill was reasonable (for Oslo!) with the 2 courses and the beer coming to the equivalent of £50. Not bad. Nice little spot and if the other half comes with me when it's warmer, I'd definitely pay another visit.More

This hidden gem in Kirkeristen's historic bazaar promises a five-star experience. The timeless ambiance, seamlessly blending classic and contemporary, evokes the grandeur of Norway's stately...cathedral. We really only chose this place because it was Christmas Day and few places were open. We had no idea whether the food would be any good. We booked an indoor table, fortunately, but there seemed to be lots of locals happily dining on the...tables outdoors on the terrace. It was snug in there but a warm and attractive space. I don't know how representative the Christmas specials were of their usual food but my reindeer carpaccio was fantastic and then I had what was apparently a traditional Norwegian Christmas dinner of various pork treats. Loved it all! It wasn't cheap but dining out never is in Oslo. Staff were lovely and very efficient. If I'd had a few more inches of table and a few more inches of personal space it would have been perfect but then I wouldn't have had all that old cathedral cloister charm.More

The Restaurant has internal and external seating areas which are nice and directly looking Oslo’s Main Street Karl Jhona. The service was good and quick. The food was less than average and the Pizza was way below expectations. The 3 stars mainly for the location...and the service.More

The building looks beautiful and the food was nice. We were pleased with the staff and they were kind in offering us a warm table outside whilst waiting for an inside table.

Cafe Cathedral offers a delightful dining experience. The ambiance is charming, and its location is ideal. They provide both indoor and outdoor seating; we chose indoor to avoid the smoke. Prices are moderate, striking a balance between affordability and quality. What pleasantly surprised us were...the generous portion sizes and the freshness of the dishes. We ordered the Pepperoni and Asparagus Pizzas, both of which were delicious. While the asparagus on the pizza could have been better prepared, with some pieces slightly under-peeled and fibrous, this was a minor quibble. Cafe Cathedral offers a pleasant dining experience with its charming ambiance and well-prepared dishes.More

This is a great find. The Italian-Norwegian blend is great. Let's face it, food in Oslo is expensive! Once you accept that, you will eat much happier. And this is a great place. I had the reindeer and bacon pasta and my wife had the...salmon one. Both were fantastic. Pasta was perfect, great sauces. I had a nice Norwegian beer too. Great place and actually not bad price.More

We had a late meal at this restaurant while visiting Oslo recently. We had an excellent bruschetta, and an equally nice Caesar Salad. The waiters were professional and friendly. This establishment is situated in the area called KIRKERISTEN in Oslo, and if you Google this...word, you'll see that it reminds one of southern Europe rather than Scandinavia. This quaint architecture is a boon, and gives a cosy atmosphere to the restaurant. I recommend this establishment.More

I ran into this place by coincidence during my business trip to Oslo. The atmosphere and the vibes were really impressive and I really enjoyed the concept of turning a cathedral into a restaurant. I ordered Pasta Pesto which was OK but also pricey (265...NOK) - in addition, I also ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio for 120 NOK and draft beer for 129 NOK. I particularly enjoyed the service by Jetmir who was very attentive to everyone on the floor and ensured that I had a good time - he really deserves a pay raise! 😊 We also had a nice chat in the end this is definitely a place I would return to particularly for the service.More

After a torrential rain on our first day in Oslo, coming here for lunch was a fabulous experience. The restaurant is small but we had reservations and the fish soup and spaghetti carbonara we had were delicious and warming. We also had great cocktails and...'Norway's national cake's for dessert--a sweet cake with meringue and whipped cream that was tasty. Service was a bit slow but it looked as though the kitchen was a ways away, and we weren't in a rush. Highly recommend.More

This restaurant is centrally located in Oslo. The outside balcony area is great for watching life go by. Service was good and waiters were friendly. As with nearly all of Oslo, English is spoken. Food was tasty and priced reasonably for Oslo. Oslo being a...relatively expensive city for Europe. Would recommend.More
