Based on Xich Lo's history in Oslo, I expected a lot more both of service and food. Lunch prices however, were better than expected. All in all you get good value for money, specially on the lunch deals. I can recommend both Pho and mango salad. Prices ~130 nok. Food is authentic Vietnamese and tasty, but dishes a bit small... This restaurant is rather fancy with white tablecloths and a bit more of an upscale atmosphere. As a student I'd say it's a tad on the expensive side and not the biggest portions, and the menu isn't the most diverse - especially not if you're vegetarian - but if that's not a problem for you then this is a great... The restaurant is lovely, but could easily be missed unless you are actively looking for it as it is on an upstairs floor on the main street of Karl Johansgate. It's definitely worth seeking out though. The food is delicious and well presented. The beer list is very good for an Asian restaurant and the tea menu isn't bad either.... More

Ate here on our last night in oslo. Definitely a more upscale type of place...quiet, white tablecloth, etc. Not great place for kids. Food was tasty though we are spoiled having lived in California Bay Area in the past.

Food was Perfect. Service wad Perfect. You can not go wrong with this place. The Cousine is Asian, so if you want something else, go somewhere else.

When we arrived we got the key from the 7/11 shop as it was late in the evening, the apartment was round the corner and after a bit of confusion we eventually got to the right apartment. Apartement was centrally placed with in walking distance of everything, beds were a bit small and the pillow was tiny, the bathroom did... More

I was here two years ago and things have not changed. Still nice place for business. Food is suitable for the clientele but not quite for Asians. The Pho broth was a little strong in anise. The Bun had a peanut sauce instead of the traditional noun mam sauce which I prefer. My duck salad was generously dressed, so some... More

Great location. Very nice interiour. Nice and professional staff felt welcome from the first minute. Had springrolls for starter and the duck breast as main. Tender and juicy duck with crispy skin. A bite of ginger and a bite of duck dipped in sauce was an amazing combination! They managed to make the duck the hero of the dish. Which... More

TL;DR: go here! Have the duck! Bring friends! I've been here probably about 5-6 times during the last few years, I've tried all the recommended dishes and quite a few desserts. I have never been disappointed! The food has kept it's quality, the staff has become even more knowledgeable, and the charming French guy with the wine know how is... More

We chose the tasting menu with starter, main course and desert, accompanied by a wine menu. The meal was very good, especially the duck breast. With honey and ginger sauce it was the best duck breast i have ever eaten. The wine kelner found us wines that complemented the food in a very good way.

Description
Pay a visit to Xích Lô (pron. cyklo) for a taste from a little Further East. This is a unique treasure of a Vietnamese restaurant, now occupying new premises on Karl Johans gate 23 B on the first floor of the new department store in Egertorget square. Delicately exotic with light and airy interior and a mouth-watering menu where the food is reasonably priced and completely authentic. Aromatic and spicy without being too hot, the dishes are served as small pieces of art on the plate. Enjoy your trip Further East!
