Hanami used to be among the top Asian restaurants in Oslo. But that was before...Today it's just a shadow of itself. But the prices have increased and the restaurant is among the most expensive in Oslo. The service level is lousy and the quality of...the food is at best medium, if not poorer. The value for money is so bad I would urge you to stay away if you do not have too much money to just throw away because you insist on looking at the ocean and the cruise vessels anchored nearby.More

Special occasion for my sister birthday. Service was amazing. Great advice from our waitress whom looked after us all the way. Food was fabulous everything was made specially for us. The wine list was extensive, lots of choices. That’s a come back for us. Comparatively...to Nobu / ZumaMore

Some of the best Japanese food I have ever tasted. Delicious wagyu with amazing parings, an amazing salmon ceviche with black curant, comquat and jalapeno, and a most amazing chocolate mousse with yuzu and a sesame wafer. Gorgeous location at the water. Very nice and...competent service. If you love Japanese food, this is a no brainer.More

Absolutely delicious. Meticulous attention to detail & phenomenal taste! Pleasantly surprised. Everything is delicious, esp the Wagyu, sashimi, tarte, & ceviche.

Quite possibly the worst dining experience I have ever encountered. Terrible service and staff appeared to be untrained. The server didn’t know the menu, or understood the basic fundamentals of customer service. Food was average and no one could explain the wine menu. Won’t be...back.More

Visited the restaurant last week Saturday and I wasn’t going to write this review, but it left me with such bad taste in my mouth I feel obliged to share our experience as a heads up! Besides the I’ll-trained clumsy servers dropping plates on the...floor, forgetting to take the main order for one in a party of 6 or pouring wine to six people from one location, meaning reaching all over the table to pour and spilling most of the wine on the table, basic service skills by serving from the right and move to the next guests just wasn’t a concept here, I think for the expensive pricing this should be a basic requirement. They also got our orders wrong and tried to get away with it, it’s only when I insisted the nigiri was tuna and not salmon that I had ordered the second waiter gave in and changed it to the correct order. However this is perhaps down to badly trained personnel and low expectation from management in service standards so hope they spend some time focusing on that! However the most shocking part of our visit was that our friend, who went out to smoke end of our dinner, was refused entry back in to the restaurant, the manager Pernilla claimed he had been over served. Let’s be clear the person on question had consumed 3 glasses of wine during a two hour meal and less that anyone else at the table. And furthermore if anyone at our table had been over served well then it the team at Hanami fault as this is the only place we drank that day. How can a server or a restaurant keep upselling wine to a table (to make money) and then use the argument you have been over served? As a restaurant owner myself I know we have a responsibility not to over serve and that responsibility lays with the server and management, but to happily upsell wine to our table (bill was 1000 dollars) and then claim Someone has been over served is nothing short but disgusting, especially as the person in question was no where need intoxicated or drunk or causing any issues whatsoever. We tried to talk to the manager (who clearly was totally incapable in handling this situation) but with any luck. Poor unacceptability ridiculous service ruined what could have been a pleasant meal with friends we haven’t seen for some time. Hope they do some server training and get a manager who knows how to manage, Stay away if you can!!More

Very fresh sushi with great flavors and speedy service. Everything we had was delicious. Inventive takes on flavor combinations. Delightful.

Excellent food and service The food was presented meticulously and everything incredibly tasty but what really stood out was our server who looked after our party of 5 with an understated excellence and attention to detail. Great restaurant. Highly recommended.

I was really looking forward to this dinner… However, Hanami is the perfect example of how bad customer service can ruin what could’ve been a very enjoyable meal with friends. Firstly, our waitress thought she was related to Mr. Fantastic (or dare I rename him...Mr. Elastic) serving wine from across the table. This would’ve been ok if by the end of the night the manager would’ve not wanted to kick out one of my friends because to her and some of her colleagues “he looked like he had been overserved”. First of all, let me say that my friend was in perfect condition after the meal, but if the restaurant has a policy related to “overserving customers”, then do not keep asking customers if they should bring another bottle of wine. Just stop serving wine or drinks or whaever it is or slow down the service. To make things worse, the manager said she was feeling attacked by all of us because we would not let her speak… that was funny, how did she think that my friend felt when he was denied entry after going for a cigarette because to her “he looked drunk”. And when he said his friends were inside he was only given the option to get in and get his things. Ridiculous! Also, shows how very little management capability the management of this restaurant has. We were already paying and about to leave, so the whole scene could’ve been avoided. So no, would not recommend. Very expensive dinner for such a poor dining experience.More
