We took the tram from our hotel and it was very conveniently located. Upon arrival one walks thru a pottery shop and outdoor garden to a very cozy looking restaurant. Candles lite, low lighting and small. We are met by hi Susan. My wife's name. Cool. We are seated immediately. Cool. Menus, and drinks offered. Cool. Not a fll5 bar... More

I knew I was on to a good thing when I visited one Tuesday evening as a walk-in customer and had to book for the following night as the restaurant was already full. This is a lovely place. After walking through what can only be described as a garden center, the narrow but deep restaurant opens up into a number... More

The enviroment is lovely as the restaurant is inside a small garden. Great for a good meal and a good time. Unfortunately the service was poor, one of the salads good, the other rather boring and too plain. The potential is so good that we will have to come for a second visit, though very disappointed after our first encounter.

It is an "old" new trend in Oslo these days with food from local producers, embracing our Norwegian tradition and nature with all that it offers. This Kolonihagen does well. I went there with a friend for lunch; Beautifully presented, I got a trout with seasonal vegetables and a fresh/citrusy apple sauce (se photo). The restaurant is lovely in a... More

It appears that this restaurant has gone completely organic. The maitre d' declared "all we have is organic". Possibly as a result of this, the wine list was very short, and not very interesting. Also, the "milk poached hake", the fish from the 4-course tasting menu, was disappointingly tasteless and overcooked.

Very cosy and hommy restaurant. Need to make a reservation for inside tables. It has a colorful yard with garden flowers and wooden white tables. Romantic ? Yes! Tasty food and logical prices. Very good service, and Wi-Fi. The menu is also available in English.

Located in a courtyard, this hidden secret escape is a perfect choice for those who like local places and want to avoid tourist traps. Very good food (all organic) and friendly staff. We'll be back!

Kolonihagen has the same owners as the 3-star michelin restaurant Maaemo and this makes room for some expectations, but it is of course unfair to compare as this has a different kind of concept. Kolonihagen is a local, cosy and slightly romantic place and not high classy. The food is well prepared and everything tastes good. Pairing with wine and... More

As the menu was only available in Norwegian, we opted for the 4 course menu. Every dish was delicious and realy nice presented.I liked that the colliflower soup was served in a milk bottle. At ten o'clock, we were asked friendly to move inside so we would not disturb the neighbours. This allowed us to enjoy the cosy interior while... More

Young people run this restaurant - they are good at what they do, offer imaginative combinations. You can have their tasting menu or a la carte selections. You can see the kitchen (they work hard!) and enjoy being part of the scene. Outstanding was the salad (thin sliced beets, carrots, cauliflower with some chevre underneath. A subtle and excellent dressing.... More
