We invited good friends to celebrate our wedding day a rainy day. We started with champagne and snacks in the lounge. A bit slow service to start with considered that we have selected the snackmenu in forhand. After a tasty welcomesession we were introduced to...our table for the evening. We have ordered a 5 meal course for the whole table. The food was excellent and very tasteful and the waiter gave good recommendation for the wine. The presentation of the food was also very nice. The pitty is that the service is not at its best. The lack of enthusiasm among the waiters for the food they are serving is sad. We also had to ask for more wine - the waiter could have been more interested in upselling on this part. We were not proposed any dessertwine so asked for this. Instead of giving us proposals on different options we were served wine by the glass before beeing able to give our point of view. For a wine enthusiast this is a bad experience. Then the rush from 10PM to start cleaning the tables and ending the kitchenservice before closing at 11pm, is very disturbing when you are enjoying a celebration and a good meal. We were almost forgotten at the end and were not asked if we wanted coffee or anything to end the meal. We had to ask for this For the last 30mn we felt we were «thrown» out and that the staff would like to go home. After spending a descent amount of money I would have expected a more enthousiastic farewell from the staff. This is a restaurant with recommendation in the Michelin guide with excellent kitchen and a good winecellar. It’s sad that the staff are not using this oportunity to bring more enthusiasm to the table around this fact. They could easely have sold more wine and made a better experience for the guest. Hope to see an upgrade on this part.More

Tjuvholmen Sjømagasin really delivered a good dinner in a very nice atmosphere. Oslo is our own town and we went summer shopping and decided to have a good dinner "in town." Knowing Sjømagasinet from several visits before, we decided to go. The restaurant is delicate,...modern and right on the seaside at Tjuvholmen. A fine location in the summer. We got a table downstairs which is even more in contact with the "canal" outside and the nice surroundings with the Astrup Fearnley Museum, The Thief ++. We had the set summer menu and it was delicious all the way through. The cold fresh green soup kicked it off. The a scallop, followed by Parma ham, asparagus and hollandaise. Absolutely a delicious combination. Main course was grilled hake and for dessert we got a gorgeous chocolate/passion fruit mousse. The service was very friendly and attentive though it was quite busy in the restaurant. The courses came in a good flow which is important for such a "long meal". Very well done from the Sjømagasinet team. Highly recommendable for a stylish tasty dinner in a classy restaurant. The meal wasn't cheap, but worth the money. All drinks, starting from sparkling water, are though priced uncomfortably high. The "wine package" is probably the smartest combination, but not cheap.More

Although I have eaten here many times throughout the years, the past several times were mediocre at best. The food is well prepared and was "good" although not extraordinary, but the service was anything but top-notch. We sat outside for dinner and the server literally...forgot about us. We had to continuously ask for service and finally ended up going inside to pay the check as the waitress never returned, nor asked us if we wanted dessert. When we mentioned the lack of service while paying our bill, the response was "It's a busy night!" Treat yourself instead to Lofoten or Hanami or one of the many other excellent restaurants in the same area where the dining experience truly matches the food.More

We were celebrating our anniversary at Sjømagasinet this lovely evening in July. After having to wait almost 50 minutes for our first dishes to arrive (and the kitchen soon about to close) it suddenly picked up the pace. Probably because most of the other guests...started to leave. Anyway: overall a good experience. We decided to share some starters and finished with a grilled lobster salad. Much of the same garnish was used for all the dishes but we really liked the risotto with pickeled vegetables from their own backyard. Our waiter suggested a great Australian Chardonnay from Yarrah Valley. Aside from the slow start we had a nice evening, although with a feeling we were the last ones to leave the restaurant in very dim lights.More

We had the Mundus Vini Nordic wine competition base in Sjomagasinet. Organization and staff commitment was excellent, the break services and sea-food lunches delicious gastronomic experiences. Wine list was ambitios and wide with both classics and innovative modernists. Also the neighbourhood and decor are worth...to visit; small walk from downtown to wake up the appetite or diget the meal.More

We had high expectations for dinner at this restaurant. This only to leave us extremely disappointed. We got the main course an hour after the starters. While we were waiting for the food, we saw two other tables complain about their food and wanting to...send it back. The main course was also dry, cold and tasteless. The side to the main course was a single leaf of salad. We also found cork in our wine glasses. Overall very disappointed and unsatisfied.More

My experience went from bad to worse. I had made a reservation and subsequently was recommended that this was a very good place to eat fish. Having arrived at 8,20pm, and eating solo, it felt an age until my food order was taken. Around 9,10...my starter dish of mussels arrived, and since they were cold, i requested they be returned to the kitchen. At this point I asked for the Manager, who never appeared. A hot dish soon appeared, with what were tiny mussels. By 9,40 my main course had not arrived, so I decided it was time to leave. Again, I asked for the Manager. He was apologetic and told me there would be no charge. This was the correct thing to do, but it was certainly not my objective. I had wanted to eat a tasty fish supper. My evening meal had been ruined. The kitchen appeared to have enough staff, and the waiting staff not only seemed disorganised, they were not customer friendly.More

The 6 courses menu does not deliver. We had to wait 30 minutes between the first and the second course. The tenderloin was very good. The rest was average for that price.

Dear madam So nice to hear that you will be visiting us this summer. There's no specific dress code at our restaurant, so I can recommend smart casual. We look forward to to your visit. Beat regards Rebecca Nicol
