The food is very nice, provided you are ok with not having lots of choice in the menu. The fish of the day was delicious and the American waitress who served our table was pleasantly funny, nice and extremely professional.

Went there to have some wine and a snack with some friends. We found a sunny spot on a chilly day. While two of us were in buying wine one of the waiters just removed the chairs, eith no excuses, apology or explanation - apart from this is not allowed. The same waitress also almost slammed the door in my... More

Visited together with my sister for lunch and we both ordered the lasagna. The service was good and the the food arrived quickly. However, the lasagna was not warm and it had that taste of food that has been made in the morning and heated in a microwave just before serving. Not what you would expect at the price they... More

One of my favourite places to eat, work and drink some wine in Oslo! It is marvellous to sit on the terrace when it is sunny. Good coffee, nice interior.

The lasagne meal was completely overcooked, albeit not warm. In addition he place was noisy and service non-existent.

This place is perfect for enjoying a long lunch, accompanied with a glass of wine and a book, in the sun. Packed with Norwegian journalists and politicians - still always room for a traveller. Enjoyed their vegetarian special of the day. Apparently the have different talks most days, but as I don't read Norwegian I wouldn't know what they're all... More

We had a lunch with a group here, loved the location and atmosphere - the place is a library and bistrot in one. The food was very nice, the restaurant offers good choice of fish, soups, salads. The portions are quite small, but it is tasty.

The vegetarian gnocci was alright in taste, though very little of the plate consisted of actual gnocci. I proceeded to have a piece of chocolate cake, because the gnocci didn't fill up a hungry stomach, only to find pieces of EGG SHELL in the cake! I notified the waiter of this, and I was sheepishly offered another piece, which I... More

Was met by the message that when we were more than 6, we had to choose between todays fish or todays meat. No such message was given when we reserved our table for 7 persons. We decided to split our orders, and could then select from the menu. Main courses were ok, could have managed some more vegetables with the... More

On the ground floor of the House of Literature you find Kafé Oslo - Litteraturhuset's café, bar and restaurant, with tables both indoors and outdoors. Here you can get lunch or dinner, or just something to drink. The menu at Kafé Oslo's is changed frequently. The kitchen is open Monday-Saturday until 10 pm (closed 3.30-4 pm) and Sundays until 6 pm (lunch menu only). In the innermost end of the café you find LesBar (=Readable), with deep chairs with reading lamps and a comprehensive collection of newspapers and magazines. Kafé Oslo is a literature café with its own stage and regular events. Litteraturhuset (the House of Literature) opened in 2007 and is the first centre of its kind in Norway.
