Solsiden is in an old quayside warehouse that was renovated and transformed in restaurant. I need to give the first thumbs up to the architect that made such a nice work in keeping the environment simple, but quite cozy and trendy, with a very nice view of the Oslofjord and comfortable lighting, at least in the summer when I went... Seafood Restaurant inside the Akershus Fortress with great views over the port of Oslo and excellent sunset. Excellent and tasty food, good selection of different fish and seafood dishes and they also offer "Catch of the Day". Everything fresh and delicate made. Good selection of wines. Skilled waiters and we were also closely followed up by the waiter who informed... More

We ate at this trendy on 9/4/16, a week before it closes for the summer. The restaurant is located on the waterfront and the windows open onto the harbor creating a lively and airy atmosphere. The 3 course prix fix was superb and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

This restaurant could quite easily be passed by without a glance. Looking very much like a dockside warehouse, it is understated but once inside it is tastefully decorated, light, airy and bustling. We chose the 3 course special menu and were not disappointed. Everything was cooked fresh, presented well and the service we received from the staff was friendly and... More

From the outside it might look like a shipping container dropped off from a boat, but Solsiden is an excellent restaurant and location to spend an evening. The halibut dish was prepared with chorizo risoni and a lime & mussel sauce. Of particular note to me was the excellent wine list - one of the best I saw in Norway,... More

They serve good seafood. We ordered their signature seafood platter, with plenty of different seafood in it. The seafood were fresh! However, I think the seafood platter is a little overpriced. It doesn't involve much cooking, only served as it is with different dipping sauce. Perhaps I am not a big fan of cold food, I found the seafood platter... More

Apparently means Sunny Side in English and refers to the restaurant’s location on the side of the harbour where you can see the sunset (unlike the other restaurants which get obscured). Got to know from the waiter that the place opens only during the summer. We opted for the three course menu here – The entrée was based on salmon,... More

My husband and I opted for the three course meal of the day. As a starter we had salmon with beet sauce; Our entree was halibut with risotto, and almond cake with raspberry sorbet was the dessert. To accompany our meal we chose the house white wine. Both the meal and the service were outstanding.

Solsiden - probably the best seafood in town, definetely among the downtown restaurants and or the best restaurant on the seaside or at Aker Brygge / Tjuvholmen. OK - except the ones with Michelin stars. The cold seafood platter concists of fresh canadian lobster (the wild Norwegian is better but you only get it during season) and of course all... More

After reading many good reviews about Solsiden, we made reservations for the one evening we had in Oslo. My son had a salmon starter followed by a pan fried turbot that he enjoyed. My husband and I shared the seafood platter and a bottle of wine. The food was fantastic and we were feeling pretty good when we asked for... More

Solsiden Restaurant is a seafood restaurant where we use only the best raw materials the coast has to offer. Besides a variety of different fish we always have "Plateau des Fruits de Mer" on the menu. This is our specialty consisting of oysters, clams, crabs, mussels, shrimp, crayfish (when they are available fresh), lobster and king crab. The dishes can be accompanied by one of the over 250 wines from our wine menu.

Solsiden Restaurant is located on Akershusstranda right below Akershus Fortress. Enjoy the magnificent sunset over the Oslo Fjord through the windows and open sliding doors. Here Oslo harbor is like a marine painting that changes from minute to minute.

Welcome and Bon Appetit!
