Great meal and atmosphere

We booked a table for a Saturday evening at 18:30. Unfortunately the table before us were still seated so we weren’t able to sit down straight away and we ended up waiting around 15 minutes, but the staff were very apologetic and even offered us a free starter. We didn’t have sushi but we had a starter and a main and both were really tasty and enjoyable. The restaurant is cosy and has a good atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely meal.

Worth a visit

We had dinner here on two consecutive nights. This is a small, no frills restaurant. We did not make a reservation on our first visit but we were able to get a table immediately. We deliberately chose not to have sushi (which looked fresh and appetising) instead opting for cooked dishes. Having travelled extensively and acutely aware that Asian food tends to be “watered down” for certain palates, we were mindful to check with the waitress beforehand and to politely ask that our dishes were as authentic as possible. Suvi did not disappoint - our chosen dishes were delicious. We were so impressed not only with the food but also the service, we made a reservation for the next evening. The waitress even said that she would make sure that we had a “better table”. The second evening was, sadly, a disappointment in every respect. We were not given a better table but in fact worse - tucked away in a corner about six inches away from the neighbouring table. We were served by a different waitress and forgot to make our request for “authentic” tasting dishes. The food was very bland and we had to ask for chilli sauce, which made little improvement to the overall taste. Furthermore, because we were tucked away in a corner, on occasions, we found it difficult to get the waitress’s attention. I spite of this, we would return when we are next in Tromso but would make sure that we remember to make our request!

I stayed at the Thon Hotel, so it was super convenient because it's right around the corner. The sushi rolls were good, simple, and not overly expensive. I usually came here before my northern lights tour (between 3:30 to 4) so the service was quick and the restaurant was pretty quiet. I saw tons of people get different types of food, but I really enjoyed their different salmon rolls and sushi.

Can't wait to visit again

We visited in July and as it was our first time opted for the tapas It was beautifully presented and everything tasted amazing. The restaurant is very cosy and had a really nice atmosphere and decor. I saw other people's dishes and they all looked great especially the sushi, I think I'll have to try that next time! I couldn't fault the service the staff were all very friendly and attentive. My only slight criticism is that the tapas was a little pricey at 479nok each for the amount of food, but I know that's relative in Norway. I think other things on the menu provide better value for money. That said I still cannot wait to return.

Felt sorry for the wait staff. One of the sushi chefs had a massive ego and was so rude to them and it was awkward hearing how he spoke to them whilst waiting for your meal. The wait staff were trying to advocate for their customers but the chef was on a power trip. On the plus side…the sushi was delicious.

Wasn’t shore what to expect. When i came thru the door it was smaller than i thought but cosy need and nice atmosphere. The food came really quickly looked awesome and the wine was a perfect mach and the perfect temperature. The waiter came after a short wile to check if i was happy, and i was the taste was excellent and i asked for more soya and he replied fast. I am a certified master chef mi self for 30 years in the restaurant business from iceland i I can sei this was a nice experience. Thank you guys 😃and keep it up 😃

We came half an hour early then our reservation, but it was no problem since our table was already free. It was our first restaurant on our trip to Norway, and we didn’t know some things like that the water was free. The staff really helped us with everything and to even get dessert in a takeaway-bag was no problem, since we got a notification that there would be northern lights soon. Real recommendation!

i was there once, and ordered what would be the most vietnamese dish on their menu. the closest thing to the fresh herbs mentioned was two basil leaves floating in an otherwise brown bullion. huge anticlimax. on another occasion i had sushi, which was actually fresh and good, although like 90% salmon, and the rest crab sticks based. fresh but boring

Close to Comfort inn Express and in the center of town, this restaurant has a nice ambience and a very menu. The flambé salmon ngiri with fish eggs on top and the spider maki were delicious. Very fresh sushi. The wait staff did the best they could when the restaurant was full, to accommodate all the customers. perhaps they could benefit from more waitstaff when there are lots of takeout orders and a full restaurant.

Just had the most delicious meal here. Tom Yum soup to start which was spicy but not OTT followed by Thai crispy chicken with cashews. Both were hot and very tasty, staff were smiling and friendly. Good value for money. Highly recommend

People were being turned away - even early evening it’s busy. If you’re in the Hotel Thon, this is directly next door. So not far to go in the blizzard. Suvi is outstanding ! All 3 courses were phenomenal and so was the service. I’m vegan and my husband is omnivore, so dishes available to suit us both. The tofu red thai curry was tasty. My husband had the beef pho. He’s had that dish numerous in the UK, Holland and in the Balearics and says it’s the best pho he’s ever had anywhere. The chicken gyoza was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with a nice curry sauce. We didn’t have sushi, but it was the most well presented I’ve ever seen. The fried cheesecake is a nice novelty. Well executed and better than expected. The staff seated us quickly, and were very friendly and attentive. They spoke multiple languages too. Due to location and snow etc, food is obviously being shipped in, so expect Norway to be pricey. It’s worth it though. They had our favourite wine, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo too.

Worst restaurant visits I've ever experienced. Poor service, dirty and bad food, the table and cutlery on the table when we arrived were dirty. One glass was chopped around the whole edge. When we had ordered it took 50 minutes before the one starch arrived, the three remaining starch did not arrive. Suddenly they came with three tom yum main dishes instead of appetizers. There was no regret or explanation either by the waiter who came with the three main dishes or the one who had taken the order. After a long time came three empty yum soup with dirty spoons. When the sushi we had ordered came, the fried pieces were cold and tough instead of brittle. We also got the wrong hot salmon. This even though the waiter, when she took the order, made sure of what hot salmon we were supposed to have. It was okay to get the right hot salmon, but the complaint about the rest of the fried pieces was not well received. Three employees discussed with me that sushi should be cold. Eventually they agreed to make new ones. No regrets now either. Not enough with this with there was too much rice on the makirulls compared to previously and the rice was grained, so cooked at least a day earlier. This has been our birthplace for sushi, but now it's over. Nice that there are more sushi options in Tromsø. We will now explore these.

I always have a wonderful time at Suvi! I have eaten there many times. Last time, I went there with a couple of friends from Japan, and they were amazed by all the delicous food that they served. The atmosphere and the staff are nice as well! Suvi is always a safe bet when you want some Asian food.

Great food and great service

We brought a baby with a stroller and forgot to mention it when we reserved a table. They moved 3-4 other tables with a big smile, no trouble at all. Service was really good: effective and more than enough knowledge about the menu. This in spite of a completely packed restaurant. We ate a set menu tapas. The presentation was awesome. Taste was great. There were two dishes that probably was plated a little early, but taste was good. Asked for the check at the end. The restaurant was completely full, but they still showed up immediately. The price is a little high, but given the quality, you get your money's worth. Will definitely recommend to others.

Love the place when æ stayed there. Always order red suvi salmon strawberries, green suvi, avocado, salmon. I've never received such small pieces of sushi from you who got it. Army one should almost pay a 200 lap before maki! So about 400kr before 2 maki. The rice was ready to fall. Looks like the chef stressed me the food. The salmon tastes weird, farmed salmon? Should you pay so much before sushi, then I think you should get reasonably large pieces so you go full of it.
