We ordered the king crab (king crab) with great enthusiasm, I received a small bowl with 3 pieces (with the carapace removed there is nothing left) about 10 cm long of crab marinated with lots of garlic and cold from the fridge, as a side dish a small salad with croutons and garlic sauce. For the modest sum of around €50 I obviously knew the cost but I was expecting a more generous portion! Given my hunger, I ordered the frankly tastier fish & chips. My husband liked the reindeer stew with a side of potatoes included and it was plentiful and finally two beers. Cost €110 obviously everywhere you go in Tromso the prices are medium/high. Tromso is very very pretty, I recommend taking a hotel near the port where there are all the meeting points for excursions and city buses.

On the first day, the REINDEERBURGER menu caught our attention.
On the third day of our stay, we found a place and of course ate the burger.
Friendly staff, good selection of food and drinks.
The burger arrived (the fries were cold, but were quickly refilled with the warm burger), looked great and tasted amazing! The burger sauce was fruity, the cheese went well with it and the fries with aioli went well.

We found the service here friendly and efficient. We chose the garlic bread followed by mussels with chips which we enjoyed and we washed it down with what we felt was a good value beer. A casual evening meal overlooking the harbour.

I had read some time before this place about a travel story for reasonable prices but I didn't expect to find it in front of me on the port of Tromso as soon as I parked the car, so we entered after checking the really reasonable prices. Kaia is in a great location, on the harbour in Tromso, and we enjoyed the view from the window. The food, though, was a massive disappointment - small portions of mass-produced, bland items at huge cost. Whilst I would not hesitate to recommend Kaia as a place to drop in for a drink with a view, I would definitely suggest you eat elsewhere in Tromso.

We were 4 people, 3 ordered reindeer burgers, the 4th ordered fish soup. The reindeer burgers were very dry, hard and almost tasteless. They didn't taste like reindeer meat. One of the guests found a hair in the dish, then that guest was full, even though the dish was half eaten. The rest of the company became very skeptical, and the dining experience declined further. The guest who got the burger with hair, after asking about compensation, was offered a 10% discount on the dish, that was what could be granted. Was here on NYE at an odd hour (around 4pm) and was only offered the NYE prix fixe menu to order from, and was hopeful that the food would still be good. I should’ve left after the crab they said they had on a sign outside wasn’t available to order till 6p. Soup that was part of my set wasn’t hot, but they were nice about reheating it. It was tasty but not anything outstanding… just a run of the mill cream and butter based soup that seemed ordinary. Whale steak was room temperature, dry, hard to cut and chewy… only thing on the plate that was hot were the fries, which I was happy about. I wasn’t interested in the dessert that came with my set menu and asked if I could have a soda instead… nope! Service was meh… had to keep asking for water, which took forever for how quiet it was at 4-ish. After asking for water a second time, they brought me a pitcher which arrived as I was signing my card receipt. At least I got to drink three tiny glasses of water before I had to leave. I regret coming here in hopes of tasting some unique Norwegian foods. Absolutely nothing was even that tasty. Would’ve settled for something familiar but had flavor with how awful this place was. Come here only to hang at a dive bar like atmosphere with live music. Don’t come here expecting good food.

I had a fish burger and I could not finish the minced fish stake. It was greasy, tasteless and awful. Also the other parts of the burger were dull. Only the fries were edible, but the whole dish was just very overpriced for the poor experience. My friend had sea soup, which came with dry toast bread and margarine packet. Even the cheapest gas stations have better bread. Our staff was friendly, but food poorest I’ve had in a restaurant in years. Don’t let the sea view fool you. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Should go to eat between the hits on the rocket night, met very unpleasant staff who did not want to serve us, almost threw the menu to us and was not interested in serving.
After 15 minutes we asked to be served but were welcomed with unprofessional and rude repons. Then we were thrown out by adult man, the same who was very unprofessional. Never experienced such in Tromsø. This was disappointing.

We dined here NYE. It was a set menu which we weren’t made aware of until we had pointed to go sit at a table. We ordered the over priced 2 person meal which was a combination of a horrible crab paste, awful smoked whale, shrimps and salmon. The main was a reindeer burger which was average at best. The staff were unfriendly and rude, it was more of an inconvenience for them that we had booked a table. They were turning people away at the door saying they were fully booked but the restaurant wouldn’t even have been 1/4 full. Avoid at all costs.

Arrived a little late in Tromso, we quickly chose a restaurant on the port.
Horrible: The philandering, dry and hard to cut Rennes steack so much that my wife returned it!!! What never happened to us in our lives. I wanted to taste whale steack, it was a very bad stew with "wine sauce"??? missed, we fell back on a fish a chips!!!! As soon as we arrived to Tromso we were hungry and the place that it’s just right in the center it’s Kaia , we enter and ordered reindeer hamburger , amazing !! And the best part was the service , we met Richard the manager and he was super kind to us , he talked about the culture and things to do in Tromso , it’s like finding a friend in Town , so we keep coming every night and we meet Sabrina and Ola ( not sure of the spelling, but everyone make us feel special they were super kind , friendly that made us feel like in home ..
in weekends they have life music, I really recommend this place the food , the service and location it’s super nice ..
if you visit tromso you need to visit Kaia ,
Sometimes you can even see the northern lights in front the place ..
and in case that it’s a bad weather you can get inside the restaurant and the have the best reflection in their ceiling ( you can tell your friends that you see them ) ..

The owner (or whoever it was, he seemed like the owner) is a ridiculus stain. He literally kicked me out because I wanted to dine on my own, he said something like "I had 4 groups waiting to be seated" even though I could clearly see free places around. On top of that he was rude, idiotic and disrespectful. I would never put my feet in this restaurant again and would advise anyone to stay away, so he would start begging solo customer to eat in his restaurant!
