I really enjoyed 1516. As an American with little German language skills, I didn't need to worry about not being understood because all the waitstaff speaks English. But more than that, I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of the space.

My 1516 Weisse beer was very good and my wife deemed her Victory Hop Devil IPA to be good but not out of the ordinary. We were told that both beers are brewed on the premises. Our "Bavarian Sausage" plate with weisswurste (white sausage) and pretzel was very good. So while the food and drink were satisfying, my biggest problem... More

A very small pivovar (brewery) just off Narodni with only three but all very tasty beers. Helpful staff who were very keen to explain their brewing philosophy.

We really loved the microbrewed beer. We also ordered wedge potatoes and dip which were good, but the portion was too big and the dips were fine but nothing special. Go for the beer.

This is a popular, busy, venue with a good atmosphere. Food is a mix of traditional and pub grub - very good quality and loads it. We split a portion of chicken wings one evening which was a relief as this was a large serving. The wings were gorgeous and surpassed the ribs which again were plentiful. Although it was... More

The service here was fantastic, the outdoor seats were all full so they gave us a seat inside to grab some drinks and look at the menu and then 5 minutes later once a table became clear out the front a waiter came and found us and took all our stuff outside. They definitely didn't have to do this for... More

Very nice place, well located in the center of Viena city. You can enjoy a lot of 1,5 liter draft beer and also you can eat food specificaly for this kind of restaurants. It s possible to smoke inside at any table or bar.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
