This restaurant is off by itself & overlooks a nice park (but is an easy walk from central Vienna). It features many (mainly) fish dishes. The service was good and the food was of good quality, but the prices were somewhat higher than other nearby Vienna restaurants of similar quality,

Splendid quiet and green location in the middle of the City Center looking at a park behind the Albertina and National Library. The Palmenhaus was built in the first half of the 19 century/re-built in 1902 and they still have some palms in the restaurant today. The place is great to have a coffee+cake and check your emails (free wifi)... More

We were 3 persons who had lunch here. It was very warm and we were served cold drinks immediately. We had the scampi salad, tortellini with mushrooms and the veal (Palmenhaus) burger. All were delicious. Our waiter served us very well.

The venue is undeniably spectacular - hidden away amongst the quiet and beautifully manicured gardens that are a feature in this beautiful city. We had intended to come for brunch, but admittedly arrived a little late (just before 12pm on a Tuesday) - and the menu was a bit more formal than we had expected so we just ordered coffees... More

We popped in for a coffee and cake break whilst exploring the city. I love this kind of architecture, like a big green house with beautiful steel structure cladded with glass so sculptural. Feels like your in Agatha Christie's Poirot movie. The service was good and we totally enjoyed sitting outside drinking coffee, eating cake and looking onto the gorgeous... More

On a lovely warm summers evening this is an excellent place to sit outside and enjoy the view. The food was good although it wasn't an extensive menu. Very good wine and drink menu. Take a look inside too as the palm house architecture is lovely.

We went here last night on a very hot Viennese evening. It is located directly behind the Albertina and overlooks the park. By 6:30 the sun was behind the trees and there was a nice breeze. Good service, great veal burgers, salmon, and traditional Viennese food. Would recommend reservation on the weekend as it was quite busy. Great spot to... More

Wherever I went in Vienna, people were very gracious and down-to-earth... except at Palmenhaus. A beautifully located restaurant, our experience was not up to our expectations. The servers appeared as if they didn't want to be there and they didn't want to serve the customers. When you're in the restaurant business, especially servers, you better be courteous to the customers.... More

Nice garden, palace and winter garden in the area. Good service and big variety of drinks and food. I was surprised to find portuguese chairs on the esplanade.

Conveniently located near the opera house, we had dinner here twice. The service was excellent, and the meals and desserts were solid if not spectacular; we had fish, risotto, and schnitzel. The outdoor seating overlooks a nice park (although sitting outside runs the risk, as always in Vienna, of extensive smoke exposure), while indoors the noise level allowed for easy... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
