The food is very good, very Austrian, and very reasonably priced. Best of all its clients are mostly Austrian with a few Europeans who got a tip. The service is excellent and English is spoken. I tried a beef dish that someone else was having and it was very good. Schnitzels were also excellent.

Lovely atmosphere, surprisingly big restaurant. Must try the Wiener schnitzel also can't go past the cordon Bleu. Must admit it's the first time I've tried it and it was very tasty! Friendly staff, reasonable price, good beers. Don't forget an apple strudel for dessert although all the tables around us we're loving the pancakes.

We were lured in by the advertised lunch menu and the fact that this restaurant has got some Tripadvisor accolades. The serving of the dishes, on large trays, in a caveman style, with lots of meat and condiments on, seemed inviting. Our food, however, lacked this appeal and even taste wasn't very distinct. We had a deep fried fish with... More

Great food and great service! The staff were all friendly and welcoming and the decor of the restaurant was fantastic. Felt really homely and welcome. I had the weinerschnitzel which was amazing and definitely filling. Would highly recommend anyone who wants a taste of Vienna to visit here

Very nice place to have a meal. Perfectly located on the outer space of the inner city. Nice staff and the wienerschnitzel was perfect!

Best Wiener schnitzel I have ever had. It was so tender it melted in your mouth. Embarrassed to say I ate the whole thing. Highly recommend this if you want traditional Austrian food in a traditional (not fancy) setting.

We had a great meal here one night. We stayed on this street (Riemergasse) whilst in Vienna, and just walked in looking for a table. The water was a little taken aback that we hadn't booked! This place is very popular. They accommodated us with a table for 2. I ordered a delicious Vienna Schnitzel and my daughter ordered a... More

The meals at Purstner are large and very tasty. They offer a wide range of local dishes at a reasonable price. The staff are very friendly.

We saw the good reviews and decided to have lunch here. The meat soup had no taste. The mixed salad was a mixture of unrelated vegetables. The boiled vegetables were also tasteless. The schnitzel was OK. So clearly not a place for vegetarians. But the meet dishes we had, especially the soup, were also disappointing. We did not try the... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
