This place was visited specially based on TA reviews. Whilst there was no English menus available, the guy who served us just took an order based on what we asked, of course that meant we didn't know what cost it would be. My pizza arrived in good time, and was really delicious. However very disappointingly my partners food took over... More

We had lunch here on a sunny summer day, we felt just as if we were in Italy! We started with some melon and ham, then tried two kinds of pizzas (four cheeses and primavera) both delicious, great value for what you pay. The pizzas were quite big for us, but we nltoced other people asking to get their leftovers wrapped... More

Upon arrival, we asked the waiter if there was a table for 6 available. There were plenty of tables available. However, instead of showing us to a table or simply answering "yes", he told us to wait a minute in an overly aggresive and impatient manner. After a few moments, he asked us if there was a free table outside... More

Poor service, the pizza was way too salty. After telling the waiter I got this answer: we do it like that since we are open and nobody ever complained". Grab a pizza somewhere else and enjoy the Piaristenkirche...

This was the most hilarious experience I've had in a restaurant. Warning though: it is only funny because we did not mind waiting that particular day and we were in a particularly good mood. The restaurant service was just so hectic, we only had to laugh it off (otherwise we would have cried...) We waited 40 minutes for our simple... More

We finally ate here after having friends and colleagues sing its praises. Sadly it was gray skies so we ate inside but it would of course have been wonderful on the lovely square outside. Inside, even though we had booked, we felt we were given the farthest, darkest table reserved for English-speaking non-Austrians with kids. It was very dim back... More

Our food was simple pasta and salad and was well prepared. Service was cordial, despite the head waiter in black chewing gum and professing to be very important. The lack of tidiness in the restaurant and especially the bathrooms disturbed me. (the ladies room had not been cleaned in quite a while) .

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
