I went there with some local friends for the Running Curry Saturday. The idea is good: you book a table, come at 12.30 and then you are served various currys. Unfortunately this lasts 3 hours, which I found too long. The portions are also relatively small. Most of the served dishes are not too spicy (2 where really hot), but... More

The vegetarian dish was tasteless, while some of it was spicy. Oil and rice may be vegetarian, but not something i'd like to eat. The seafood was generic out of the fridge. Kind of hard to chew.

While there is a nice selection dishes I found them rather bland in taste especially for sri Lanka dishes. Spent 40 euro for 1 Big dish plus selection of picks dessert and a small mango lassi. All together it was a change but i will be looking for a better place.

This place made a nice change from the coffee houses nearby. I had the thali which was made up of a mixture of small meat and vegetarian curries with bread and rice. Very tasty although could have been a bit hotter in taste. Also nice to be able to sit outside.

We are surprised to see this restaurant next to hotel we stayed. Food style was in South Indian but not had the feel with taste and quality. Starters are good. But they should improve on taste. Quantity was huge for each dish ordered. Also tasted lassi here but not the best I had in Vienna.

I was left extremely disappointed. The dishes we ordered had been microwaved (from frozen). The distinct lack of taste and flavour left much to be desired... Would strongly suggest that you consider eating elsewhere.

Amazing currys and other dishes from the cingalese tradition. We had no idea what to order so we asked the waitress, who chose some great food for us! Perfect restaurant for a nice informal dinner out. The price were also very reasoable. Also suited for larger groups.

Decent place to have Srilankan or South Indian Cuisine. Food is reasonably good but may be little disappointing for someone who is looking for typical Indian South Indian Cuisine. We have enjoyed Dosa, Wada and Sambhar here. Even Masala Tea is reasonable good.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighborhood Profile
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theater, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighborhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicenter. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighborhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
