definitely recommended. Walter Bauer has the type of atmosphere you expect from a sophisticated Viennese restaurant in the capital of the country. At the same time it has a gracious warm and intimate atmosphere. Service here is both impeccable and charming. Try the 4 course gourmet menu, and you will not be disappointed. The soups here are truly extra ordinary.... More

This is a formal dinning restaurant with lovely décor and great food and wine. It offers traditional Viennese food with some wild game selections. The manager doubles as the sommelier and offers an extensive wine list with many famous wines and vintages. It is an experience to eat here. Don't let the exterior or small space fool you, it is... Small, cozy restaurant on a winding street. Our meal was delicious. Extensive Austrian wine list, loved our recommended red. Excellent service. Ideal place for a quiet meal for two.

.. to find a top-class restaurant in Vienna is not an easy task, especially when it has to be on a certain day at a certain time to celebrate a special birthday. I tried to reserve a table for 6 at several restaurants from the UK at several places, but finally, on recommendation by the 'competition' found 'Walter Bauer'. I... More

A favorite with Viennese, savvy travelers and food writers; Seek it out for an authentic experience in Austrian specialities and great wines. This is an unpretentious classic restaurant with friendly unobtrusive service in a warm environment with the feel of time travel to a different time. All our dinners were quite simply excellent and plated minus the clutter one might... More

This attractive vaulted room a few steps from the Jesuit Church has a timeless feel. Very attentive and friendly service - without being overbearing in any way. Very few tables and an intimate feel. My dining companion and I chose the set menu with 4 courses - and delicious it was too: goose liver pate + stunning sea bass +... More

The setting is luxurious and the staff extremely knowledgeable, attentive and discrete, which is a fine line. The wine list is superb if rather aggressively priced at the top end. The food was beautifully presented and had a varied number of tastes and textures. It merits a Michelin star and is worth the splurge.

A little hidden gem in the heart of Vienna. Restaurant Walter Bauer is small and intimate. The food is excellent. We enjoyed venison, lamb and veal.

Overall this restaurant is excellent by every aspect. Warm welcome by Mr. Bauer. The menu is classic French style with some Austrian touches. It is neither too long nor too short, just alright. The soup of the day was a lobster soup, delicious taste, a benchmark. The main dish was lamb with a tasty mustard sauce and pieces of celery.... More

The title is self explanatory. To add to it, the chef's response was "it's meat it's supposed to have blood". No comments
