I went to Steiereck in 2009 and experienced the best meal I'd ever had. Everything was spot on, great atmosphere, beautiful dining area, helpful staff and fantastic food. I came back in August 2014, for an anniversary, with my partner who hadn't been there before, but so much had changed. I had booked around 6 months in advance I would... More

Every aspect of this restaurant is perfect. Food, service, ambiance all without attitude. A wonderful evening. I go there every time I am in Vienna.

I eat a lot of meals on restaurants, try to find good restaurants but rarely do fine dining. Coming from a poor memory this is the best I can remember in a long time, maybe the best dinner I've ever had. A service that is exactly how it should be, attentive, fast and discreet. The food is not overly complicated... More

Three years ago, we went to Steirereck for an anniversary dinner. It was wonderful and clearly showed why it is considered one of the best in the world. This time, very different. Our reservation was made several months before and when we arrived for an 8:00 dinner, we were told our table was not ready (still occupied). Understandable. It happens,... More

While I'm aware that their restaurant upstairs is in the world's best restaurant list, we booked into the casual restaurant downstairs since we weren't in the mood for a fancy dinner. What a lovely space. It's on the edge of a canal and in the park, so it's a good place to people watch. The staff were very attentive and... More

We came with high expectation after having noticed many awards. The receptionist at arrival was warm and friendly but that was all. The rest of the crew was so proud and snobbish. The restaurant was recently re-opened in new venue with the feel of modern and space. Open kitchen was spacious and guests can have a look. Large selection of... More

I've now had dinner here twice. And well worth a third and fourth visit. It's not for the faint of heart when it comes to the bill, but you do get what you pay for. I adore the pork dish, but what sticks in my mind is the vast array of cheeses and unlike in the US where we tend... More

This is obviously a fine restaurant. For me, the chef was trying too hard to create dishes that were so unusual that they often lacked substance. Some of the courses were excellent like the lamb. Others, like the dessert, were mediocre. Some of the staff are lovely and most professional. We were seated very close to the kitchen and could,observe... More

The welcome on arrival was warm and friendly. We had the tasting menu with wine flight, most of the parings were excellent with a firm lean towards showcasing Austrian wine. The bread and cheese trolleys were exceptional and the staff looking after them full of knowledge and had obvious love of their products as did the sommelier. However some of the... More

Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
