Was told this restaurant is widely regarded as the best in central / Eastern Europe. Booked well in advance (~1 month) Quite impressed overall Like the cards they use to introduce the dishes. A lot of good info about the food origin, ingredients and preparation method My first time doing real German / Austrian fine dining. Gave me a feeling... More

To start with : Austrian cuisine is not only about Schnitzel and Goulash ! The Steirereck restaurant is a fantastic ambassador of outstanding and innovative cuisine. We had an "à la carte dinner" and everything was perfect from the amuses bouches to the cheese. Everything is very refined in the tastes and some plates are contemporary reinterpretations of traditional Austrian... More

The Steirereck inside Stadtpark is a michelin two star restaurant but I believe it does not deserve a two star level. The food was nice, the bread basket was sumptious but all of the other dishes were too salty, which does not suit our appetite. The service was nice, they treated us friendly, but the whole meal took three and... More

My husband and I went to Steirereck on our vacation because we wanted to try the 9th best restaurant in the world. We enjoy fine dining, and have been to other well respected restaurants. The experimentation, precision and skill of the kitchen was impeccable. However, in our opinion it came at the expense of tastiness. The food was just ok,... More

My third Michelin star quality restaurant within one week, after Bale's "Les Quatre Saisons" and Riga's No. 1 and Michelin star quality's "Vincent": my expectation for the top 10 restaurant were sky high, especially, as it was a family and not a business diner. However, the Steirereck experience fell definitely behind the two others. It started already with a table... More

Had dinner reservations but my companion had a cold that day so we switched it for lunch the next day. SO glad we did! This place is a destination for lunch. It's in a park. Beautiful exteriors and interiors. Simple, elegant lines. We both tried the tasting menu (no wine pairings this time but I had a glass of sparkling... More

Steirereck has a well-deserved reputation, currently ranked 9th in the world, and it certainly lived up to that reputation during a recent lunch. We have found that sometimes these "top 50" restaurants disappoint in some fashion but there was nothing amiss here. The service was fantastic, the meal was inventive and interesting, the taste sensations will last a lifetime and... More

We went for dinner on our 5th anniversary. Everything was perfect! Fantastic food and great service. We ordered the 7-course tasting menu. Fresh (and some interesting) ingredients, well cooked, and nicely displayed. Every course came with a small note telling what's in it. They had a small cart with about 20 kinds of bread to choose. The assorted cheese was... More

Steirereck has the reputation of being the finest restaurant in Central/Eastern Europe, but our experience suggests a huge disjuncture between the food and drink and the experience of dining at the restaurant. Steirereck deserves its two Michelin stars for its cuisine (even, perhaps, a third), but it will never receive such award based on our experience. The day that we... More

One of the most famous gourmet restaurants of the city can be found in one of the most beautiful parts of Vienna, in the middle of the Stadtpark and on the banks of the river: the Steiereck and its sister establishment, the Meierei next door.

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
