A must for meat lovers their speciality is essentially a large lump of delicious pork charged by weight. This was more than enough for two of us and could easily be shared by 4 with a couple of sides. It was a great atmosphere and lots of locals seemed to frequent here. Set in the Prater as well it was... More

Beautiful environment but very crowded in the evening. We could not find a place to sit, asked to waiter, he responded "you look yourself what can i do". Anyway, we sit and waited to A waiter (8 mins). And he came with very bored attitude. We pay 39 euro for two schnitzel vom schwaine+3 beers+ketchup±mayo. It is kinda cheap for... More

Always a great time and plenty of very good food and drink. You have to order their famous Steltze. It's plenty for 2 people and a specialty that's hard to find in other places.

Every time we visit Vienna and that is at least once a year in the summer, we take a trip to the Prater to visit the Schweizerhaus. Mandatory Budwar Bier and a Pork Shank. Always fantastic food refreshing beer, friendly and fast service.

We visited for a late lunch about 3.30pm on a Saturday. The place was packed outside but plenty of room inside on this sunny afternoon. I guess there's no time of day when people don't eat here! The restaurant has large opening windows so we so had the benefit of the fresh air without the chance of smokers sitting next... More

If you are looking for a great relaxed night out in a traditional beer garden environment, I can totally recommend this place. There are loads of tables so you don't usually have to wait around long (if at all) before being seated. If you like a more formal eating experience, I would say this is definitely not for you though.... More

Establishment is very busy and you are processed like a sausage factory. The waiters are very to the point However Food was amazing especially the stelze goulash and fried emmanthaler cheese A great meal - a little on the pricey side but whole of Vienna is pricey

The Restaurant located in the heart of Prater Park, to get there take U1/U2 to Prater Station then a few minuts walk. This is large beer garden, one of most popular restaurants to get traditional Austrian’s food "stelze" if you go there for many people you need Reservation!!

Had a family reunion lunch at this beautiful Garden Restaurant. The service was fantastic and the food delicious and plenty full. The Beer they serve is from Budweis and is stored in their cellars for many many months before being tapped. It is great place to visit as it sits at the rear of the Prater, after dinner you can... Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
