Lovely coffee and cake, fantastic décor with prices to match. Waiters put on act of being snooty, but are actually quite helpful. However, all the window seats are reserved. But go inside, and enjoy the atmosphere Freud savoured

Very nice place, top service and very good food! Very nice place to avoid the crowded centre at brunch time and have a good meal surrounded by natives...

I went there with a friend and it was an amazing experience: we had a great time and the food was really good (totally recommend ordering the apple strudel)... we just had a little problem with the service. When we wanted to pay, it took ages for the waiter to bring us the check..

We went for lunch and really enjoyed the fresh salads, smoked salmon, nice wines, and of course afternoon coffee. The scenery is amazing, right in the ring across from a park, and the service is just right. They don't rush you and are happy for you to spend a leisurely few hours having a coffee if that's your speed.

We are glad we made a point of visiting this coffee house, formal service without being stuffy. We had late afternoon drinks outside watching the world go by. It is just opposite the town hall. Coffee excellent, drinks were very enjoyable, service excellent. Not the cheapest of places for drinks and coffee but worth it for the overall experience We... More

Simply the standard for a Vienna Cafe, offering lovely breakfasts, wonderful coffee and classic Vienna deserts for sweets lovers. The service is excellent and the venue perfect for having the Vienna experience. Dinners with sausage varieties and other Germanic dishes. We would not visit Vienna without stopping here on a few occasions. The history of the city and its most... More

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL FOR AN AVG TOURIST. First and foremost the water, which is from the sink for 4 persons will cost you 7 euros . Coffee is extremly expesive. the waiters where not friendly at all and very slow. If they notice your tourist the will quite honestly rip you off. We took a look... More

If you had to chose one coffeehouse in Vienna, I would recommend this one. There's an elegant atmosphere, with formal waiters, and traditional Viennese coffee and cakes. It was famous back in the Freud days, and probably hasn't changed at all. There is a relaxed atmosphere. Some patrons seemed engaged in serious conversations, others reading a newspaper and enjoying their... More

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
