My girlfriend spotted La Scala whilst we were riding a bus in town and we decided to give it a try! Needless to say we were not disappointed! Food and service were excellent, all 3 members of staff were friendly, attentive and always smiling which certainly added to our evening. steak was cooked lovely, chicken tasty and well seasoned and... We very much enjoyed true thin crust Italian style pizza from a huge Roman type wood fired oven. Quattro formaggi and Calzone. Great service, too. A high recommendation.

Went here with my g/f (now my wife!) in May 2013 after doing a self-guided walking tour through the old city. Wonderful meal, great service, and the dining area was beautiful. Only negative thing was that the front dining area was open to smokers, and even with the front windows open, you still caught the occasional whiff of carcinogens and... More

Surprisingly good Italian restaurant in Austria. Everything Italian - the setting, the service and the food. It was just like being back in Florence. The choices of all the courses was typically Italian - so easy to eat too much too early - my advice is - pace yourself. For this kind of meal be prepared to take the whole... More

This restaurant was a great find, tucked away in a quiet street off the Ringstrasse and next door to the Kunsthistorisches Museum -- so good, we went twice. Quiet, unpretentious, with a friendly waiter -- but the main attraction was the Italian food, which was unexpectedly good and very plentiful. The wine (by the glass, we didn't buy a bottle)... More

We were starved after a long day of sight seeing, saw an Italian restaurant and thought how bad could it be... Awful is the answer. I had something resembling risotto and my partner had something resembling pesto. Poor service, God awful meals, I would strongly recommend avoiding this place.

I felt ripped off by this experience. I paid what I thought was a lot of money for veal in a lemon sauce. What I was given was a huge mound of potatoes with three very small bits of overcooked and tough veal. Unimpressed. We have since eaten far better, much cheaper Italian food in the Nachsmarkt restaurants. No wonder... More

The larger, more attractive dining room is open to smokers, so if you need a non-smoking table you will be moved to the separate and ugly area. The thin crust pizza I had was simply dull - absolutely nothing to recommend it. Service is brusque and efficient. My advice is go somewhere else. You can find something close by that's... More

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
