The quality of the food at the Neubauschenke is OK and the portions are big. We ordered half a liter of still water and were advised that they do not have still water but would bring us normal tap water. This is no problem in...Vienna given the excellent tap water quality but when I then get charged six euros for that I do no quite understand their pricing given the fact that we also had a bottle of wine with our meal and the kids consumed soft drinks. Two items we wanted to order (and were on the menu) were not available and another rather disturbing thing was that the waitresse informed us about the fact that tips are not included while we were paying the bill, clearly stating a certain expectation. Overall noth not the best impression.More

I had my first bitter schnitzel in my life. We order one chicken and one beef schnitzels, but it came as 2 chicken schnitzels. We thought that was fine, because they had the same price. However, what's worse, after tasting, my friends and I felt...schnitzel tasted bitter. So we were asking the old waiter, who had very bad and arrogant attitude. His words were like blaming it's our fault to taste bitterness from schnitzel. We couldn't finish our dishes. Felt sick with the food and the racist waiter.More

The service was slow at times, but this was more than compensated with the excellent personal experience and food, the local delights are a must have and Unusually, we dined there days running!

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We were so pleased with our meals that we went 2 nights in a row. Restaurant has been in business since 1981 and, in my opinion, is charming. Salad bar is small and is included in many meals....I had a small portion of Goulash the first night and it was excellent. It came with bread for dipping in the very tasty gravy. Friends I was with had the pork schnitzel and veal schnitzel and liked them both very much! Prices are extremely reasonable. A small portion of goulash was $9.50!! Service was a bit slow but we were on vacation and in no hurry. As with other places in Europe you’ll have to ask for water. If you don’t want to pay for water be sure to ask for a glass. Otherwise you’ll get a bottle and a charge. I think you’ll enjoy this restaurant!More

We were recommended to this restaurant by our hotel – there were several other hotel guests there. It ticked the boxes for everything that we wanted. Food wine and ambience were absolutely fine. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant certainly deserves its certificate...of excellence. I particularly liked dining amongst swords and the suits of armour!More

We stumbled into this place after our first choice nearby was closed for a special event. We were pleasantly surprised as our overall experience turned out to be great. We were 6 people and most of us ended up ordering veal schnitzel which was delicious...and big portioned. Every dish we ordered was very good to excellent. Service by our waiter was also excellent. Location is wonderful due to its proximity to the main shopping zone of Mariahilferstrasse and accessible by U-Bahn (Zeiglergasse station). We highly recommend if you're craving traditional Viennese cuisine.More

By far the worst service I’ve ever experienced and I’ve been in the hospitality industry a long time!! On our last night in Vienna, we decided to take our Mom to have an authentic schnitzel and being close to our place we decided on this...spot. The waiter was horrendously rude, in the beginning, during ordering and towards the end of our meal. During our meal he was walking by we said “excuse me sir” and he looked, nodded and kept walking in a defensive manner. When he came back 5mins later with his response “yes” we asked for water and his response was “that is all after this, you’ve asked me 9 times for things” and kept walking. This was just the worst moment of the whole encounter with him! Sorry, but since when is ordering food, drinks and for water on a 30 degree day on the patio too much to ask for from a server?! I’m absolutely horrified this restaurant has anybody like this working in their team, it’s disgusting. Maybe this place is fine on any other time this guy is not working but on the same token I’d refuse to give my money to a place that allows disgraceful staff like this to be the first impression for people in their restaurant. Do not bother!!!! I’m ropable we have ended our stay in Vienna with this horrible experience. I hope this guys name is on the receipt! Unfortunately I cannot read German.More

BEWARE!! THESE PEOPLE WILL CHEAT YOU. We ordered two pork schnitzels at 8€ each. When we got the bill they had changed it to two veal schnitzels at 17.50€ each! Since we had already eaten them, they insisted that we pay them. (I'm sure we...got the pork but with breaded (wiener) schnitzel there's no way to tell.) Then the waiter had the nerve to demand a tip!! Don't go to this place. I'm sure they run this scam all the time with tourists and anyway, there are better restaurants in the same neighborhood.More
