At first I felt like I had to wait forever, even though it wasn't very busy. I got a chopped schnitzel, which I didn't know until today that schnitzel was also served chopped. The "fresh" vegetables from the freezer were completely overcooked.
Not the kind of place I'd recommend.

Recommended by the hotel receptionist, we enjoyed a typical Viennese dinner with excellent schnitzel and potato salad, exceptional Strudel and excellent Bavarian bread. Quick and courteous service. Definitely recommended also for the prices.

We found this typically Viennese restaurant off the main shopping street. It was tucked away. We sat outside for lunch. The waiter was fantastic. He spoke perfect English and explained different things on the menu which we were uncertain about. He also allowed us to taste a couple of wines which we were unfamiliar with. The lunch was delicious. I had Argentinian steak and my husband had a chicken schnitzel. We had to wait quite a long while, but the food was all obviously home cooked and was delicious. Can highly recommend.

After we say and write 3!!! We had to wait hours for our food, we were served poor quality food. The onion roast was peppered with flax, fat edges and was extremely hard! Also visually repulsive. The other foods were also below average and extremely fat dripping . The beverage order also took forever, a reorder was only possible after 1 hour. The new building tavern used to be a very good restaurant, a pity they dismantled like this.

What was intended to be a November highlight turned out to be a big disappointment – the Martini goose in the Neubauschenke in 1070 Vienna! We went to eat Martini goose on Saturday (pre-ordered). After a long wait - this year without a greeting from the kitchen :(
the food was served on a cold plate
(Not nice, you want to eat slowly and take your time).
The sight: not very inviting, puny, a skinny goose!
(Question: Where did this starving goose come from - you don't even want to know!)
To accompany it there were 2 dumplings, a strange lentil dumpling!?
and red cabbage.
The dumplings were cold and went back,
that didn't help much, the "potato dumpling" was a hard, tasteless dumpling.
The goose wasn't particularly warm either,
also almost just a carcass with a little meat on top (unfortunately no crispy skin either),
not a tiny piece of goose breast with it - so that was it?
The taste was also disappointing, bland and meaningless.
Actually we should have 4 should have immediately refused the food and sent it back!
We complained, they offered to treat us to dessert, and mineral water for free too.
The dessert was still on the bill,
after asking we were told that we would have gotten the mineral water for free anyway.
Ridiculous!
NEVER AGAIN!
Absolutely impudent!

The quality of the food at the Neubauschenke is OK and the portions are big.
We ordered half a liter of still water and were advised that they do not have still water but would bring us normal tap water. This is no problem in Vienna given the excellent tap water quality but when I then get charged six euros for that I do no quite understand their pricing given the fact that we also had a bottle of wine with our meal and the kids consumed soft drinks.
Two items we wanted to order (and were on the menu) were not available and another rather disturbing thing was that the waitresse informed us about the fact that tips are not included while we were paying the bill, clearly stating a certain expectation.
Overall noth not the best impression.

I had my first bitter schnitzel in my life.
We order one chicken and one beef schnitzels, but it came as 2 chicken schnitzels. We thought that was fine, because they had the same price.
However, what's worse, after tasting, my friends and I felt schnitzel tasted bitter. So we were asking the old waiter, who had very bad and arrogant attitude. His words were like blaming it's our fault to taste bitterness from schnitzel.
We couldn't finish our dishes. Felt sick with the food and the racist waiter.

Rude service! They gave us two glasses of stale Prosecco. When we told the waiter that this was not fresh Prosecco, he took the glasses and within short returned with the same glasses. Toilet and kitchen are dirty. Food is bland and disappointing.

A total disappointment. We arrived early, no one was there. Within 15 minutes, five tables were occupied. Everyone's plates arrived except ours. They told us they had a problem with one of our orders. We waited 1 hour and the food never arrived. They didn't get any attention. We feel discriminated against.
When we left, only the waiter said "sorry."

They accommodated a large group and provided excellent service and food! Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a delightful evening. Actually visited in Mar of 2020, pre-pandemic, but the date option wasn't available.

To leave Vienna without having tasted a Wiener schitzel felt a bit like blasphemy, so I decided to go visit a classical, renowned place restaurant near my hotel to satisfy my tastebuds and to pay respect to my surroundings. Little did I know that I would regret that decision.
Upon entering the restaurant I felt like I had timetravelled back into the 70-80's which would have been fine giving my mission for the evening. A waiter arrived explaining me that he would happily return to inform me of the off-the menu delicacies. He never actually returned but his colleague took the order (yes, a Wiener schnitzel please). After a considerable wait the schnitzel arrived - four large slabs of deepfried meat plus one lonely leaf of salad.
When I took a bite, I wondered if I had run into a Covid bout as I tasted basically nothing except a whiff of deepfried breadcrumps. I added a bit of lemon juice, salt and pepper but even then, the schnitzel experience made me wonder what on earth just happened in the kitchen. The accompanying potatoe/onion was nice but either the whole glorious Wiener schnitzel myth is a hoax, or the cook needs to step up his game.
So all in all, pretty disappointing.

Ridiculously long waiting for service... Min. 1 hour long.... Don't come here, if you are really hungry, because you'll starve to death before service...

The service was slow at times, but this was more than compensated with the excellent personal experience and food, the local delights are a must have and Unusually, we dined there days running!

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We were so pleased with our meals that we went 2 nights in a row. Restaurant has been in business since 1981 and, in my opinion, is charming. Salad bar is small and is included in many meals. I had a small portion of Goulash the first night and it was excellent. It came with bread for dipping in the very tasty gravy. Friends I was with had the pork schnitzel and veal schnitzel and liked them both very much! Prices are extremely reasonable. A small portion of goulash was $9.50!! Service was a bit slow but we were on vacation and in no hurry. As with other places in Europe you’ll have to ask for water. If you don’t want to pay for water be sure to ask for a glass. Otherwise you’ll get a bottle and a charge. I think you’ll enjoy this restaurant!
