I invited a friend to the "Flying Brunch" and we were thrilled once again: Food really top and wonderfully served, service totally attentive and fast- from me a great recommendation!
There was also a choice between "with meat", vegetarian or vegan, which must also be considered a plus.
I think there should definitely be a deposit or similar at the time of reservation, so that the so lovingly prepared food is not wasted.

My friends and I had a wonderful experience at das Mezzanin. Our waitress adhered to all requests - we were a group of 6 ladies with different tastes and ideas of what food should taste like. I had a veal Beuschel, which was amazing and when I am back in the city I will go back for more. The lady next to me had a Zwiebelrostbraten, which looked really yummy. Of course they have a Wiener Schnitzel with parsley potatoes. They also offer a daily menu which changes on a weekly basis. I did not try their deserts, but a chocolate tartlet passing by looked divine.

Das Mezzanin is (literally) in what was the mezzanine of an elegant 18th Century Jugendstil former bank building in central Vienna, just a few steps from the original Vienna University (Uni Wien) main building and the Votiv Kirche church. For the main meal, so called Hauptspeise menu (in German) there are several traditional offerings (fish, chicken, pasta, steaks) plus pages of other items ranging from tasty starters to small plates and more, plus a wine list is available. We were four, eating our main meal, and the assortment of fish, pasta, schnitzel and steak was "pretty good," not great. Service was very friendly and prompt. But...and there's always a "but," when we got our bill, in the 120 to 140 Euro range, we checked it and found that our main waiter had inflated the bill by adding two drinks, not one but two, which we found dishonest and unacceptable. We were not pegged as "tourists," either, since all interaction with the main waiter was in Viennese German. Further, the main waiter had an electronic device for order-taking and even typed in a special request for a substitution, which arrived correctly, so we are certain that he intentionally input the two extra drinks perhaps to drive up the bill and maybe the tip, too. His colleague, a very polite young woman removed the extra drink amount and reimbursed us in cash from the tip cash, but this should never have happened. And, my steak, priced at 32 Euros, was only 5 or 6 ounces, if that, hardly a good value. One was enough for our group, none of whom want to return. It's an elegant place but questionable errors on the bill and "not a good value" for the actual food make us give it a "thumbs down." We were hoping for a stellar experience, but the place fell far short of that, good food but not great not a star, but a crashing meteor. Overall, it was a disappointment, sadly.

Yesterday, December 13th, 2023, I ate at the Mezzanin with a friend at around 3:30 p.m.
It took forever for someone to come and bring us menus. After another long wait and our request that we would like to order something, a waiter actually came to take our orders. It took him a while, however, to find the soups on his tablet to enter! These soups were also brought in a reasonable amount of time, but only lukewarm. Then we sat for over 20 minutes with our empty soup bowls and no one came to clear us away, let alone bring the main courses. When we then asked for the bill after about another half hour - again looking for a waiter - because we had lost our appetite and hunger due to the excessive waiting time, instead of bringing the bill, a waiter suddenly came and "slammed" the 2 main course plates rather loudly on the table! Without any comment!! So we ate these only lukewarm dishes somewhat reluctantly. The food was actually good and tasty, but not at the right temperature.
This restaurant may have a very nice ambience, but the service is unacceptable and I would not recommend it! What a shame!!
I will never be back!

Cozy and conveniently located in the centre of the city. The overall experience was delightful, with the establishment offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. Exceptional quality.
Highly recommend trying their coffee if you visit this restaurant. The cake I ordered seemed a bit stale. However, this minor flaw did not overshadow the overall positive experience I had at the restaurant.

Fabulous breakfast. Gorgeous breakfast but they need more staff. We waited 20 mins before our order was taken.

We've been here with friends. The place is located in the former Bank building, which features splendid interiors.
The food was served rather promptly and with a smile, wine selection was substantial (including some fairly unconventional regional wines).
All in all, I would not consider it the best place in Vienna, but it is definitely worth a visit.

This place was not far from our hotel so we walked over after a long day in the city. The restaurant decor and the staff were inviting and the menu was appealing. We enjoyed some wine from nearby Burgenland area, and I was pleasantly surprised by a seasonal offering of tagliatelle with ramps! The service was impeccable and the food was delightful. We were there too late to check out the adjoining Inter-Spar grocery store, but we hear it has a wonderful selection of whatever you might want.

We were in the mezzanine for breakfast today. The reception was very friendly. It took a while before we got the menu. Then it worked and we were able to order. But the egg we ordered was forgotten. But the waiter was incredibly friendly, you couldn't be mad at him. He got around his mistakes with a lot of charm and humor.
And the breakfast more than made up for it. It was more than enough and very extensive, everything was very high quality. We will definitely come back.
