While taking a Hop on Hop Off bus tour in Vienna a few weeks back my friends and I had a wonderful food experience. We were told that a small hamlet of Grinzing was the only place on the route to find food. We got off and found Liebstoeckl. What a find. The place was quaint and cool and the... More

We spent a pleasant evening in the garden in the sunshine. Good atmosphere. Good Austrian local food and wine and good service. Reasonably priced too.

Took a bus up to Grinzing area one late afternoon. Stopped in here for dinner as highly rated on trip advisor. Had a very nice dinner. Schnitzel was good, as was the boiled beef. Well priced. Would definitely recommend and would return.

On our first visit here we were made most welcome and seated in the garten. The food was excellent with very adequate portions and reasonable prices. Some meals were strange to us such as fried calves brain or stewed calf innards, probably OK but chickened out on these. We enjoyed this so much that we traveled out from central Vienna... More

A typical restaurant with traditional Austrian charm. Delicious food and a diverse wine selection make this a hidden gem within the competitive restaurant sector of Grinzing. Seasonal good with friendly staff make this place a must when in the area.

We caught the L2 subway line to Shottentor-University station. One level up is the tram stop (Number 38 tram) to Grinzing. This stop is one level below street level. The service ends at Grinzing and does a loop through the main street before stopping. You then leave the tram, walk along the platform to the main street then walk about... More

I know this restaurant for many years and i am always coming back, great food, nice atmosphere and the best dog station I have ever seen. The owner can be a bit grumpy but.... Always bring guests from abroad here and they all liked it.

We came for lunch on sunny Sunday. The garden at the back is very pleasant. Partly in the sun, patly shaded. The menu was extensive with all the classics. I didn´t want to eat meat so had bit difficulties to find something vegeterian. Service was quick and pleasant. Food was big portions, great value and very nice. My husband had... More

It's first time visiting Grinzing for us and we had a very pleasant dinner experience. Food was delicious, wine - light and tasty, hosts very prompt, prices more than reasonable etc. I'm sure we'll come back again next time we'll visit Vienna and I highly recommend this place to everyone (it takes only 20 minutes to get there from the... We visited this restaurant the third time and we always were very happy with the food and also with the attention. We would not recommend the spareribs there but everything else we tried was very good.

Neighborhood Profile
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
