NOT RECOMMENDED!!!! One of the worst restaurants that I have ever been. The food was awful. We ordered calamari and they looked very strange, like if they have been breaded several times before. DEFINITELY NOT FRESH! See pictures. The Musaka tasted like actually NOTHING. The service... Well, you have actually go to the bar to get them if you needed... More

The restaurant is located in the fourth district of Vienna, not far from the Karlskirche on the lower floor. Two small, cozy, but can be stuffy halls are decorated in traditional blue and white colours. Visitors in the evening of a working day was a lot.Kitchen - traditional Greek, almost a classic as the recipe and serve. Overall very tasty

During our visit to Vienna we were there for having lunch. The restaurant is typically Greek, starting from tables and chairs, service and menu. If you arrive, you feel like you would be in Greece and if you engage in this culture and accept the differences, you'll feel fine. service is very friendly (not so fast), food is typically Greek... Sokrates offers a good choice of Greek cousine. If food is ok, the location is really nice. In fact, the restaurant is along the Danube, really close to the U-Bahn station Donauinsel. Ideal solution in summer.

Went here just several hours ago and very disappointed with their service! Came with my husband and one son, waited for approx. 15 minutes to ask the Food menu. One waiter looked busy, didnt reply when we asked the Menu, but apprently passed us holding his mobile phone checking something. We asked again for the third time, he replied rudely... More

I was for a dinner in this place as I like very much Greece and Greek cuisine. The place is typical Greek, I took a meze dish for the first, with tzatiki, zucchini, eggplant, olives, feta cheese, very tasty on a typical plate joined by Mythos beer (see the picture). For the main dish I went with a grilled Levrek... More

I'm giving this a 4 because of the smoking policy. The smoking area is right when you walk in the door and you have to pass through it on the way out. This was the only restaurant of a week in Austria where there was a smoking section. I got seated downstairs where the room was huge and the air... More

Not every restaurant has to be or will be fantastic. And so it is with the Taverne Sokrates. It's not bad and if you want simple food at reasonable prices it's fine. The pluses - it's on the river, there are lots of other bars and night life nearby, it's reasonably priced and the service was pretty quick & friendly... More

Visited their summer location at the Donauinsel. The food was poor, without taste or love. Probably the worst moussaka I ever had. The prices are average I guess for the main dishes, but expensive for all drinks and coffees. And they even charged a tiny portion of (packed) mayonnaise at €0.50. Service was OK to friendly, the location lovely, but... More
