Wnet in a freezy Sunday to have lunch. Beautful atmosphere, artistic, friendly, charming. Culturally Czechoslovakian, they serve simple but tasty food at a good price. Ordered dumplings in a lentil soup with meat. Very good! It worth a visit if you're in the area.

Our first night in Vienna and needed food! We found this nearby to the hotel. Wow! The decor is something of a "different" taste but each to their own, I found it interesting. We were fitted in but I would suggest booking ahead or going out earlier. The food was pleasant, I had dumplings and sourkraut, they know what they... More

I'm too upset to write much. Suffice it to say, that they brought everything we ordered (appetizers , main meals etc) all together or not at all. I got both at the same time and when I complained I was told that the waiter made a mistake and we just had to accept it. Others got their main meal and... More

Recommended by a local friend we enjoyed a nice dinner in this out of the ordinary place. It is friendly, generous, characterful and has a menu that is traditionally tasty.

If you want to get out of the tourist area, take the U2 to Taborstrasse, have a stroll through the Augarten and visit this lovely restaurant. It caters for dinner from 5pm onwards, but is also open for lunch on weekends. We just met friends for a drink there and I wanted a snack. I had the goose-liver served on... More

I went here with a couple of friends and really enjoyed the non-pretentious atmosphere, good vibes and wholesome Austrian cuisine. From the outside the place looks as if it is closed. But as you open the door you enter into a very colorful and authentic atmosphere. The soups had a deep flavor and not overly salty as in a lot... More

I only discovered this popular restaurant in the final days of a nearly two-year stay in Vienna, thanks to some Austrian friends who invited us here for one last good time. Better late than never, and I'm glad we didn't miss it. Our friendly little group stayed for hours, enjoying the lively atmosphere with nary a tourist in sight and... More

What a great place to try out Bavarian food. Ably assisted through the menu by main host and hostess four of us had a fabulous meal. I enjoyed the cabbage, sausage and potato soup followed by a plate of smoked sausages with ginger, horse radish, pickles and three mustards with dark bread. I was advised thus was a "light" main!... I was there with my family on a few occasions. Food is always good. A clear winner is one of their desserts namely Mozart Dumplings. One of the best desserts I had. The restaurant itself is a bit outdated but somehow they have managed to create a very nice cosy atmosphere. Staff was quite friendly too. Decently priced. I will... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
