Simple traditional Austrian dishes near Prater. I had risotto which was ok, a bit too hard (even the onions in the rice where not cooked, they were still kind of hard) and dry, not necessarily a dish I would go back for.

This is the 5th time we have been there and before was fine, but it all changed. We hadr dinner and ordered a scallop with pesto, an ox tail and lamb gulash with polenta. What we got is a salty scallop, 2 bones with a little meat around in some souse and a beef goulash with very dry polenta full... More

Since my last visit this inn has been selected Choice of the Year in Vienna. And how right that is: the food is superb, the choice of local beers amazing, simply great. Don't wait until one can't get a table anymore because too many people know about it.

I went twice. Once on my own and another time with my husband. I had the burger once and the dear steaks another. My husband is vegetarian so he had the vegetarian pasta, which he loved. With food he's generally difficult to please. For me the food was jummy and tasty. The ambiance was simple but traditional and clean. Service... More

Enjoyable and friendly restaurant tucked away in a small street near Prater. Lots of traditional/folk food; nothing too fancy, but that's not why you're here. Plentiful portions and tasty. Fast and friendly service, English menu available (with adorable typos). Simple yet nice beer on tap.

The restaurant is situated in the 2nd district of Vienna. Don't get fooled by the (sometimes ugly) surrounding buildungs and the streets, the food of the restaurant makes it more than up to you. The restaurant serves delicious regional Austrian food. They have seasonal 'specials', which I can only recommend. The service is friendly and courteous without being too pushy.... More

This is a wonderful inn, combining traditional ambience with a delightful cuisine from the forest quarter of Lower Austria. Try the poppy seed dishes!

The poppy seed specialties were great, but do not eat the 'palatschinken' - they came form the microwave (you should have them while in Vienna, but alwasy ask, are they fresh) We had a coupon from our host and still the service lacked (or maybe because of it?)

We are an Italian couple and we found this really nice gasthouse by chance. We gave it a try and it's been worthy! Very good food, both the soups and the main courses, big portions, great bio beer and wonderful desserts. All for a very honest price of 25 euros each. Definitely a nice and welcoming place! Not to forget: a... More

What more could you ask for? My wife and I recently visited the Gasthaus Moslinger again and were impressed by their post-lent menu. I highly recommend their schweinrostbratten. Amazing flavor, not fatty at all and generous portion. It' worth noting that this place continually receives awards from the good folks at the Genuss Region offices for their quality meals and... Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighborhood Profile
Leopoldstadt
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city center and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theaters, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
