We visited this restaurant twice during our short stay food was good and service friendly. Not highly publicised and came across this restaurant by chance as it is up an alley way but worth the visit.

Maybe it was us. We had traipsed across town on a rainy Saturday night only to find the restaurant we were planning to eat at was shut. Walking back to the city centre, getting soaking wet, we were keen to get indoors out of the rain, so, perhaps we could have chosen more carefully. Walking past Il Cavalieri we saw... More

Last visit there was some years ago with lots of good memories. Unfortunately things have changed but not to the better. The place now is a poor quality Pizzaria with city center price level. Better to get some take away pizza somewhere but to waste good money at that place. Not to be recommended for a business lunch at all.

Il Cavalieri is an attractive-looking restaurant in the quaint old university quarter of Vienna. The menu is comprehensive and appears reasonably priced. Service, as is typical for Vienna, is not particularly hospitable or attentive – we felt quite unwelcome. We watched the chef prepare our pizzas in the open kitchen and they were served promptly. Unfortunately they were average –... More

Found this little Italian up a side street No frills just a simple welcome lunch Good value fresh ingredients, especially welcome if you've overdosed on Austrian cuisine

While in the past this was a decent place for Italian food it is now just a low average Pizzaria with upmarket prices. Very disappointing.

I had some good meals there in the past. Today I was rather disappointed. Food quality like in a Pizzaria in an industrial township. Maybe they had a management change or some kitchen people are on vacation...

We were very disappointed in our visit to Il Cavaliere in beginning of October. This is usually one of our favorites in Vienna for a casual meal-great pizza and cannelloni. Our hotel made reservations for us but when we arrived, they had no reservation and could not care less about whether we had. I do not know if management changed... More

Restaurants in the main tourist areas of European cities tend to be rather indifferent, knowing that the next day anew group of tourists would arrive who would be looking for a meal. It was therefore a pleasant surprise finding this restaurant quite near the main tourist area. It is a bit tucked away which probably helps. The food was very... More
