After a morning exploring the gardens at Schoenbrunn, we wanted somewhere to relax for a while and have some lunch - with this place being recommended by both TripAdvisor and our Lonely Planet guidebook. From the second we walked in, we knew we'd made the right choice. The atmosphere and decor is excellent; light hearted but also somewhere you could... More

Everything tastes great, but you have to order at the counter and still they charge almost 10 € just for coffee & cake. Ridiculous. looks like a place for students, but the prices are for rather rich people.

I went with my couple and we wanted to take a coffee and a piece of cake. The prices of the cakes were not writen and we noticed that the coffee was quite expensive: 4.50€ for cafe latte. Since the other drinks were even more expensive we decided to take two coffees and two pieces of cake. We were charged... More

I visited here over a month´s stay in Vienna and the Burggasse main cafe. Great choice of bagels..Brie, smoked salmon, falafel, hummus, even mango and curry tofu. I tried quite a few of them. All made to order. They just launched a new bagel menu and there´s lots for vegans and vegetarians also. I like relaxing here and enjoying great... More

The pure living bakery has been my favourite place for drinking good coffees, eating delicious crumbles and bagels and just spending some quality time with friends. I'm really into sweet things and even there are a lot of places in Vienna where you find really good cakes and cookies like the K&K Konditoreien with plenty of extraordinarily good and tradtionial... Went here recently with some friends and my views are pretty mixed. We went to the one on Burggasse in 1070 but apparently there is another in 1130. Pros: - The atmosphere inside the cafe is really nice. It's nicely decorated and inviting. - The baked goods look amazing and the ones we tried were quite good. I enjoyed my... More

This place is really meh. Totally underwhelming cakes at pretty steep prices and small portions verging on the unacceptable. No prams allowed and service doesn't come to the table. Not exactly sure what I was paying for in the end.

One of those places in town that I guess only native people and random strangers can appear here. A place made and designed in besr traditions of cafeterias, where except many and new (at least for me) types of coffees, one can enjoy the place itself. Strongly recommended.

my search for an American bakery led me here. While the service, chocolate shake and cakes were excellent, I would definitely avoid the brownies and cookies. Atmosphere was great - quite relaxing and inviting. Ill go back but will know what to order.

My favorite afterwork coffee with a creat crumble cake in Vienna. The vintage style character makes such a cosy atmosphere!

Staying in Hietzing

Neighborhood Profile
Hietzing
Vienna’s 13th district has always been in the shadow of Schönbrunn Palace and its gardens, but has interesting hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Allow half a day for the imposing Habsburg residence and the gardens with Gloriette belvedere. Reserve the other half to discover the secret charms of this posh residential neighborhood. Sneak out of the gardens at Hietzinger Tor (Hietzing Gate) and head down Hietzinger Hauptstrasse for Kaiserpavillon (Emperor’s pavilion), an Art Nouveau gem right on top of U4’s metro railtracks. At local institutions Café Dommayer and restaurant Plachutta you can mingle with residents, their families and friends. Dommayer has risen to fame since waltz king Johann Strauss and his orchestra performed there regularly. If you want to go beyond private villa gazing visit Klimtvilla and Hermesvilla. Art Nouveau genius Gustav Klimt had his last studio in a now beautifully renovated villa, which is open during spring and summer. Hermesvilla at Lainzer Tiergarten animal enclosure and nature park is a must for all romantics and fans of Empress Sissi.
