a sunny day in Vienna, strolling around the university, try your luch and turn in one of the small side streets - and then you see a cosy terrasse on the pavement, bordered with plants and you are greeted by a friendly waiter. No, no problem if you are on your own, take a seat and enjoy. And I did.... More

A Small, cozy Austrian cousine restaurant where we preferred for our business dinner. The wooden seats with small pillows were the first interestong detail that took my attention. We ordered potato cream soup with mushroom was very delicious. The most expansive dish of the main course, a specially prepared veal meat with 26.90 euro tag was so delicious so that... More

At lunch in a different restaurant I was sharing a table with a delightful Austrian lady who I asked to recommend a restaurant for dinner. She kindly rang her husband who gave me the name of two restaurants, one of them being Appiano. It was within 5 minutes walk of our hotel ( the Hilton) so we went there. We... More

This is a typical Vienniese restaurant with excellent food and good service, we enjoyed the dinner there, the only small concern was the signle bottle of red wine we ordered-there was not a second one. But in general - oustanding!

We decided to go to Appiano after reading such great reviews. I knew it had been closed for the summer but they are open now and better than ever! We had an absolutely amazing meal of tuna steak and boiled beef. For appetizers we chose the octopus and grilled watermelon caprese salad. Both were absolutely fantastic! Service was flawless and... We tried to dine here last night and were greeted by a note on the door stating in German and English that the cook was having back surgery and that the restaurant would be closed until September.

this very typical old viennese pub has been left unchanged since historic days, which is interesting but a bit dark and dismal; and especially the toilets are already beyond "end-of-life". we were the only guests on this rainy Monday evening and that increased the depression further. all the more surprising is however that the food is quite innovative and certainly... Located in the heart of Vienna in the first district, Appiano seems to be a typical Viennese pub (Wiener Beisl) with a very cosy atmosphere. Food is very good: Creative modern Viennese Cuisine with a mediterranean touch is served. Staff is very friendly, helpful and polite.

There's restaurants and there's restaurants. And boy, is this a restaurant! I loved it from the moment I walked in. The waiters were smiling and not just to please us, but because they were clearly happy to be of service and ready to please their guests. Also they had an air of self confidence about them, in a very pleasant... More

We recently spent a long weekend visiting our with good friends in Vienna and thay took us to Appiano. It is a traditional Autrian restaurant in a nice & quiet side street. The menu is brief and interesting however thay also have a good range of daily suggestions. We all had different dishes from menu and daily offers and they... More

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
