We were early for our timed ticket for the palace and we stumbled accidentally into this gorgeous place where it was a pleasure to while away an hour. Stunning location tucked away behind one of the buildings of the main square in front of Schönbrunn....A large quiet (on the sunny spring day we visited) outdoor space with plentiful tables. Don't worry about the stern-looking waiters in dinner jackets. They were actually really friendly! I had a Melange and a warm apple strudel with vanilla sauce. Worth every calorie - simply delicious. We would certainly come back again.More

On our Christmas Market tour to Schönbrunn Palace, we decided to take a break from the cold and stop in for fancy coffees and snacks. The Christmas Market was great but we really had more time than needed and it was an abnormally cold evening....The food and drinks were great and the portions large.More

We visited at the shtrudel show in cafe residentz which we ordered from Get Your Guide. From the beginning the attitude was not welcoming - the man in the entrance didn't let us come in when the time arrived, and he delayed us and another...number of couples for fifteen minutes without any explanation, and brought in a group with a guide who was supposed to enter about half an hour after us. Even during the show the guide interact only with the group with the guide and we felt like we are just a bother for them. And few months later i asked the cafe to send me an invoice, as get your guide service instract me to - their answer was to get back to Get Your guide. Other suppliers of Get Your Guide sent me an invoice after one day. I won't recommend this place for anybody.More

Had one and half hours to burn waiting for Palace time slot and as it was pouring down couldn't visit the gardens, decided on strudel to fill the gap. Very traditional restaurant where staff wear dinner jackets and you wait to be seated. Apple strudel...portions are big and enough for lunch.More

You need to delete this restaurant from your recommendation. Food was great but portion is too big. But that is not the point of my review. When we want to pay our receipt, the waiter asked us if we want to round our receipt which...was 81,20. My boyfriend said “okey 82”. But he said he want 5-10% of the receipt. After we said “No”, he give my boyfriend 20€ back and said “thats tip for you”. I was shocked. No one ever do that to us in any restaurant. My opinion is that the staff in restaurant is paid and they have they salary. And when I eat I pay for my food but for service no, that is job of employee. My recommendation is - find another restaurant where you will be served like you deserve. They need to tell them, because I read so many comments like this, unfortunately after I was there and this happend to me.More

We ate here while visiting the Schoenbrunn Palace in Vienna this winter. We had to wait to be seated, but it was worth the wait! Obviously, everyone was looking forward to the famous Viennese schnitzel, but the rest of the dishes were also extremely tasty....Also, the coffee, the drinks, the desserts: delicious. Not to mention that we had never seen such a fast a-la-carte menu service, everyone seems to be on a "speedy" mode in this restaurant. The waiters were very welcoming, polite and smiling, truly providing the Viennese home hospitality. The only thing that we did not enjoy here was the fact that the place is extremely crowded, the tables and the chairs are so close to one another that one could barely walk in between or sit comfortably, without having their chair constantly hit by someone else... Nevertheless, the amazing food and the professional service compensate for this shortcoming, at the end of the way all we kept in mind was the great experience we enjoyed here.More

Cafe Residenz is at Schloss Schönbrunn, they do live demos of the strudel-making at selected times here, which I unfortunately missed. Ordered their famous apfelstrudel with vanilla cream and didn't expect it to come swimming in it. Certainly an overkill but luckily it's not sweet...so it's OK. The strudel pastry is also more crepe-like than filo-puff-pastry, I like this version better. Had a hot choc too, cause the weather calls for it. Service was friendly.More

Service was adequate. Be aware that once you tell him your order it can’t be changed. We asked to change our coffee choice before he left our table and he said it was already sent from his phone and couldn’t be done. Although I’m sure...if he had gone in the back it could’ve been, he just didn’t want to. We had the suppentopf and gulaschsuppe- both were good. The star of the show was the kaiserschmarrn for dessert - divine! Both the coffee and the chai latte came lukewarm. This was decent pit stop at the palace.More

Great restaurant with very attentive staff. We had the apple strudel with a brandy coffee and it really hit the spot. Felt very decadent but with reasonable prices, well worth a visit.

Food is good, staff is very friendly. Great place to sit, clean. Check out the live apfel strudel show. Great price for the food and you get a lot of food for that price!

Abundance of tasty deserts and big crowd of tourist. Service is ok, signed my credit card receipt and 1 day later noticed overcharged 12 euros. We were party of 3, ordered drinks and 1 strudel to share. We’re charged for 3 deserts. Not a big...deal, left sore feeling and no desire to return to see strudel show. Small things do matters.More

The food is not good. I would not recommend. The Frankfurter sausages are in fact Worldwide Breakfast sausages, bad presentation and bad taste, the waiting for a table is embarrassing while a lot of tables are empty, being "reserved". The service is slow and not...professional. The taste of the food is not good but the prices are up, designed maybe for a 4stars restaurant, but it's a joke, being in fact lower in quality than other average restaurants in the world.More

Very bad experience. Aggressive no vax waiter teasing the vaccination. The place was packed while half of the tables were kept empty apparently reserved but no one never came to sit there. Just avoid it!
