We went for coffee and dessert. Nice decoration, cozy place inside, very good service. The desserts were very good, but nothing exceptional. Everything is overrated because you are in Vienna. Overall, average poor value for money.

We enjoyed a really delicious lunch here--everything was light, very fresh, and tasty and the service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the pastries we had so much we actually came back later in the day for a second round. By far the best pastries we had during a week-long stay in Vienna (and we sampled many!). The chocolate mousse... More

This cafe is centrally located at Neue Markt in Vienna old town. It was busy, but seemed frequented by locals more than tourists. We went here for the cakes, and ahemm, had 4 of them. The best was the chocolate mousse cake which was not just good, but really, really good. I can still taste it today. We sampled the... More

Following great reviews on TripAdvisor, we decided to try out this restaurant, right in front of Stadtpark. I had their special, which was very good, but nothing exceptional. However, I highly recommend their desserts. Beautifully presented and smartly displayed, they definitely catch your eyes and you can't help but have one of them. I had one of the lactose-free ones... The location is superb, Neue Markt it's one of the nicest places in Vienna old town - with classic Viennese ambience, yet not so touristic as other places. Oberlaa is one of the good vie Viennese bakeries and cake shops with dozens of tasty, colorful sweets and short main course menu. Staff could be friendlier, Sacher torte could be better... More

The Wife woke up hungry on 13/6 and demanded an authentic Viennese breakfast. It's was 7am and most places in the city centre were still closed. We arrived at this cafe at 840am (close to The Guesthouse, our hotel) and were pleased to note that it was still quite empty, and seemed blissfully free of tourists. Our waitress was a... More

We stopped here for lunch after reading reviews. A lovely basket of breads was placed on table with our lunch. When the bill came we were charged for the bread we ate. Also vanilla sauce for strudel was an additional 3 euro charge. Again- not known before. That is ok but the bread???? Really??? Had I ordered it that would... More

I haven't tried cakes there, as the available ones didn't catch my attention. The tea was good and in a generous amount. The worst thing was that I ordered a food, which was called "egg dumpling" but they brought me homemade pasta with scramble egg. I ordered it because I generally like eggs. I thought it would be sort of... More

It is always a highlight to buy cakes, tarts or other sweet Austrian specialities. Sitting inside or in the small garden outside can be highly recommended.

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
