Restaurant was one of several recommended by our tour director within a short walk from our hotel. Our waiter had a dry sense of humor that we played him with and he warmed up to be a very fun and talkative person. Food was very, very good. We had a dish for 2 that included monk fish, sea bass, squid, and shrimp. Well done. Also, had a few glasses of some excellent red wine.

I met a family of dear friends with small kids in this place.
Food was very good, fish specialties and wine are good.
Service was very friendly and good.
If you're looking for a romantic place, quiet - this is not the one :) It's a place where people eat well, drink and communicate pretty loud.

As you can see from the prior reviews, the unfriendliness of the staff in this restaurant is exhilarating. A big warning as they also scam you. We ordered fresh fish for almost EUR 150, and wanted it salt baked. They presented us the salt baked fish then brought the baked fish back to the kitchen and what they served us were prepared fish flakes which was probably half of the amount of the whole fish we paid for. They served the salt baked fish to another table and by coincidence one of us saw that they were recycling fish pieces from the kitchen to serve us. This place is really a scam. Avoid at all costs. The rudenes especially of the servers here is something you see in movies!

On 17 May I was with a friend walking by and saw a nice terrace of this restaurant, I wanted to have a drink and dessert but the waiter didn’t allowed me to take a table if I don’t wanna order main dishes. I find it not very polite since it was half empty and there are were no obvious reason why couldn’t we have some small dishes there. I find it very unfriendly.

My husband and I have enjoyed eating at Lubin for years. On Saturday we went back for the first time after the renovation. There is a new, smaller menu. The fish I wanted to eat was no longer available. The same goes for fish for one person!
So my husband shared a large sole with me, it cost €130, was barely seasoned and didn't taste nearly as good as it used to. The starters were also poorly prepared. For €27 I got an octopus salad that consisted mainly of potatoes with a small amount of octopus. The calamari fritti that my husband ordered were not good either. In the end we paid more than we would have in a good restaurant in the city center. We won't be going there again any time soon.

Location - about 25 mins walk east of city center, or a very short subway ride on U3
Ambience- elegant but still very comfortable
Service - excellent ; we had a very friendly and efficient server
The food - amazing . We had the grilled seafood platter as a starter - everything on that dish was great - the octopus was tender, the shrimp was juicy and delicious. For mains , we had a whole seabream fish baked in salt - it was absolutely fresh and delicious- the fish meat was moist and tasty (probably the best dish of the night). We also sampled the monkfish which was excellent as well.
Value - very very good , compared to prices in London or US .
A must try for seafood lovers

Outdoor seating on a quiet road. Attentive Service . The grilled octopus starter was juicy and soft and the main course , a Red Grouper, was cooked to perfection in a salt crust.

We dined at Lubin in July 2019. Whist the food was really good and fresh, the service was beyond appalling. I ate at numerous restaurants across the world, but I have never encountered anything like that. The waiter was incredibly rude and displayed a clear misogynist attitude, making inappropriate comments and acting in an overfamiliar manner. I do not know if the owners are aware but if not, he is a disaster waiting to happen. With so many lovely restaurants in Vienna, this is one to avoid especially if you are female and not keen on being offended against.

Excellent restaurant in a non-busy street. Staff was very attentive and quick (despite, as they told me, they were short-staffed due to illness). As I’m from Croatia, I can say that this is one of best fish dishes I ate in a long time. Very interesting preparation of fish Brancin, which is cooked on high temperature in salt cover (also nice presentation, where this salt cover is broken afterwards with a hammer, and then fish is filleted). Also good offer of wines from Croatia and Austria.
It is high-priced (fish for 2, bottle of wine & still water and 1 desert cost 140€), however in line with how much it costs in Croatia adjusted to Austrian wages.
Fully recommend!

Yet again Lubin does not fail to impress. This is one restaurant not to be missed. Really great fresh fish and amazing grappa.
Service was up to par and desert was topped with a small surprise which made us really want to come back.

The food at Lubin is consistently good - I have been there quite often - but the service, which once was not bad (a previous waiter remembered me and even what my favourite dish was), has now become absolutely abysmal. As I walked in today two waiters standing behind the counter did not greet me, but instead stared insolently and asked what I wanted. If guests go into a restaurant at lunchtime, one could normally assume that it was to eat lunch, but perhaps a woman alone is something not acceptable in these waiters' world? They were rude and linguistically challenged.
My waiter whisked my salad from under my nose as I was eating and slammed my main dish in front of me before rushing off. I was therefore interested to watch how they served the young couple sitting next to me and saw a marked difference: the waitress presented their fish on a platter for their approval, then prepared their plates at a separate table before politely giving them their meals.
I suggest that some serious training be given to the front-of-house staff so that they treat all their customers in a more appropriate manner. Some simple manners would be a great improvement.
