This restaurant is about 20 min from the city center, but by all means worth a trip. One can only get a fixed Menu of about 8 small dishes, which change depending on the season. Classic Austrian influence with some creativity. Excellence Austrian wines! Great Backyard garden.

Freyenstein Gourmet Restaurant has a delightful garden, friendly and efficient serving staff, and delicious food. There is a set menu that changes every two weeks and several al a carte possibilities. Three of the five course menu consist of two different small portions. Each portion is finely made with interesting and local Austrian ingredients. The portions are imaginatively paired. The... More

i like that the restaurant is tucked away in Währing. (still accessible by tram). Ambience is cozy warm. Service is good, with cheerful staff. Garden is welcoming in better weather. But onto the food. We understand that there is recently introduced an a la carte menu. We were not offered it (no problem, we prefer set menu). Food is smartly-portioned.... More

Our group of 6 persons visited this restaurant in early January. We weren't quite sure what to expect and were very surprised and pleased at our experience. The food was exceptional! Fixed menu with 5 courses....each one outdoing the previous. Service was prompt and pleasant. Waitress was personable, engaging and knowledgeable about each course. We would definitely return upon our... More

The restaurant offers a menu which is changing every twoo weeks. In the menu there are 4 courses + dessert but each course consists of 2 different coures so at... More

We were attracted to this restaurant by the rave reviews so were expecting so much more than what we got. We paid 45 euros per head for a series of minute dishes. The food was ok but certainly not 'gourmet'. The first three courses came reasonably quickly then we had to wait more than an hour in total for the... More

Still one of the best restaurants in Vienna!!! Perfect location, perfect food, a feel-good evening that lasts at least 3-4 hours.

For my first fine dining experience I was very impressed. The fixed menu was about 45 euros for 5 courses (each comprising of two dishes) plus an extra taster at the beginning and end of the meal. The food was diverse and mouth watering and we opted for the wines which fitted to each dish for about 24 euro dollars.... More

You are still in our mind after few months, we visited you in November and had very good time. Your service and food experience basedon duets were very refreshing and interesting, out of 4, 4 of us still considere you as the best experience in Vienna considering Quality vs Cost. Merci

Neighborhood Profile
The 18th district is the most inconspicuous of the listed neighborhoods. Where else can you still watch card players at a Viennese coffeehouse, or listen to authentic Viennese folk songs with a local audience? Like most respected Viennese neighborhoods, Währing has its own street market, Kutschkermarkt, where you can best feel its pulse. One of Währing’s loveliest outdoor destinations is the small garden palace and museum Geymüllerschlössel. The exquisite 19th century interior is spiced up by contemporary art installations curated by the Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art (MAK).
