I go to Tichy twice a year at the beginning and end of the season with my girlfriend. Now on 04.09.24 I just looked at the bill when we were charged 0.50 cent for a glass of tap water. I am of the opinion that if you consume something it should be free as before. I find it really a bottomless naughtiness!! If you only need a glass of water, I realize that you pay something. Otherwise it is highly recommended!

I always like coming here when I'm in Vienna and have been for almost 40 years. Great ice cream, always friendly service, I also like to take home ice cream apricot dumplings and various other treats. I find one review outrageous (written last year before closing time), where one assumes that the salesperson may have intentionally left two products unpacked. I think with non-stop service, it's easy to forget something. The sales staff are always very friendly and quick, they definitely don't do it on purpose. If you consider something like that, you'll do it yourself.....

Huge variety of freshly made good quality ice creams. They have a huge following. The menu is overwhelming 🤭but well once you get over the tough choice you are left with just the right amount of energy to devour the spoil😂it’s a great place to spoil your taste buds.

Tichy was the highlight of my childhood. Back then - about 50 years ago - there was not a single ice cream parlor in Vienna that could keep up with Tichy. Yesterday we were there again for a long time (from the 18th it is a long journey after all) and were first shocked at how run-down the surroundings have become. Before the alley sale, as always, long lines. At Palais Glace the feeling that the tables are even tighter than before Corona. Anyway, the air was for cutting as the air conditioning was switched off. We stayed anyway because we were already so excited about the ice. Unfortunately, the formerly great quality of the ice cream (especially hazelnut and strawberry) has decreased enormously: only pecking sweet and no fruit recognizable. The prices have been increased extremely: the small sundae now costs 7.20 euros and the glass of tap water costs extra! I thought we might have gotten caramel instead of hazelnut (the consistency was tough, too). But then I read the reviews of other customers and saw that with the new acquisition by the granddaughter of the old Mr. Tichy, profit maximization is obviously sought at the expense of quality. In the past, we were always happy to accept the long journey and the eternal scramble for a seat, because quality and price were right. Now there are much better ice cream parlors at reasonable prices in Vienna. We will save ourselves this mass handling in the future.

For someone who has known Tichy for almost 60 years, it was more than disappointing. For a Royal Secret, €5.22 is completely reasonable. For a large brown, €3.60, the price is completely reasonable, but a glass of water, €0.50, is a disgrace. In every other place, you always get a glass of water with your coffee. This is the first time that I have ever paid €0.50 for a glass of water with a coffee. You are not even made aware of it!!!! Although it is not even written on the menu, nor on the receipt you get from the service. The €0.50 is simply added when you pay, after consulting the service staff, they said they would bring me a bill. The ice cream itself is great, the service in the salon...well, friendly is something else. The service leaves a lot to be desired... the waitress was annoyed, she probably has to answer questions like this all day. No wonder there is no email address on the website.

One day before the salon closed on September 27, 2023, I went to the store to buy some ice cream to take away. The saleswoman packed all my orders very quickly. I then paid and received the bill. When I returned home, I immediately put the packaging in the freezer without opening it. It was only a few days later that I noticed that two desserts (Coup Praline) were missing. Apparently the saleswoman had not packed them, but I was still charged for them. I am not sure if this was an oversight, if she simply forgot, or if it was even intentional. However, I feel cheated out of my purchase. I cannot even find an email address on the website that I could contact.

I can only join the previous speakers / HAZELNUT ice cream no longer what it was and also the BLUEBERRY ice cream was changed. Previously beautiful dark purple / taste totally blueberry - now? Light purple and blueberry flavor no longer Tichy quality! What's the matter?

The recipe of Vienna's best hazelnut ice cream has unfortunately been changed. It is heavy and greasy with relatively large nut pieces. During our stay we watched how much uneaten declined. What a shame!

Friends report that the best hazelnut ice cream in all of Vienna is no longer edible at Tichy! Tested it myself today, greasy and tasteless!! I hope the boss has finally realized that this is damaging the TICHY name!!

The best ice cream parlor in Vienna. It's almost always busy, but the service is friendly and quick. The ice cream is simply wonderfully creamy and tastes great. I'd go back any time.

On a recommendation, we visited this Eis salon on Saturday. The operation consists of two parts more magnificent looking in the ice palace and simpler with a terrace close to metro at Reumannplazt 13 in Vienna. We ordered a classic EIS Marillenknödel and two ice cream cups. The ice cream did not exceed the average level, cups was nicely arranged, prices friendly but the service was absolutely terrible. I have similarly visited eis salons in Germany in Italy in Austria and also at home. Before visit recommend preparing for unfriendly staff like in the school cafeteria. Great disappointment and absolute difference with the positive experience of Eis salon in Rust.

We visited Tichy every day when we either were getting on the train or at the end of the day headed back to our hotel. It was so delicious. The employees work so fast to get through all the customers. They do a wonderful job of getting as many scoops of ice cream as you want on your cone. It was one of the favorite parts of our trip to Vienna.

I am Austrian, but was born and raised in Germany. The first thing I do when I come to Vienna is eat an ice cream at Tichy. The best combo is hazelnut and blueberry. The ice cream apricot dumplings are also amazing.

Have been going every summer I’ve been in Vienna since 1973 (when I was 7) - my grandma used to sell her marillen to them back then. Still amazing, not changed. Nothing compares. Have been bringing my children here since the early 00s.

Vienna has been holding out on us. This diner styled ice cream spot is a must visit. It’s been serving up desserts since 1952. Definitely get the Eismarillenknödel, an apricot filled dumpling that are as iconic as they are delicious. These puppies are patented. How they came to be? Initially conceived as a creative way to use up leftovers, it’s hard to imagine now that this iconic treat began as a culinary afterthought. Today, they make 35,000 homemade dumplings each week.
