We arrived on a Sunday afternoon in the 5th district. Being away from city center we didn't have a load of options for a traditional Viennese dinner in a proper restaurant in our area. We googled and found that Gasthaus Ubl was opened and serves great veal schnitzel. We just had to go. The older gentleman who seated us (seemed... More

We stayed in Vienna for four nights and ate here twice - both times the food and service were excellent. This bistro has been in the family for a few generations and if you're looking for high quality, authentic austrian food then we couldn't recommend this more highly. Close to Naschtmarkt.

Wonderful food in an Austrian beisl (bistro). Unpretentious, great service and very reasonably priced. We're coming back!

The food was good. The waiters were really nice. A nice place to eat while being in the center of the city.

The restaurant is a typical Austrian Gasthaus with traditional food. The menu caters for a variety of tastes and a good selection of reasonably priced wine. Our meals were very good and the service very friendly and helpful.

More than anything, I have to say that the couple who own this place would be reason, if I lived here, to come back on a weekly basis. Both were so friendly, though the wife speaks more english than the husband. But you can tell by the way they visited tables, chatting with patrons, that these were people who came... More

Located in a small road near Nashmarkt this traditional restaurant was a wonderful surprise to us! We ate at the garden, the waiter was more than eager to make us feel comfortable! He even explained to us the day menu which was in german all 12 plates (it also had an english menu!). A place where you'll find local people rather... More

Located outside the main tourist spots, and just behind the Chinese area this is a restaurant that is genuine. Probably one of the best Vienna Schnitzel in town coupled with good service and atmosphere.

Excellent local restaurant, supposedly one of the few original "gasthauser" left in Vienna. Beautiful oak panelled room with many interesting architectural features. Nice looking garden area for warm weather dining. Great location just off the Naschmarkt and opposite the Third Man Museum. What about the food though? Typical Austrian menu with all the usual favourites. My schnitzel was excellent and... More

The decor is plain - rustic and original, with no frills, like candles, on the table BUT what a lovely experience. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. Staff, especially the waiter Alex, were very friendly and helpful. He explained the menu and we were able to order different items and combinations. The restaurant is family owned by... More
