Located outside the main tourist spots, and just behind the Chinese area this is a restaurant that is genuine. Probably one of the best Vienna Schnitzel in town coupled with good service and atmosphere.

Excellent local restaurant, supposedly one of the few original "gasthauser" left in Vienna. Beautiful oak panelled room with many interesting architectural features. Nice looking garden area for warm weather dining. Great location just off the Naschmarkt and opposite the Third Man Museum. What about the food though? Typical Austrian menu with all the usual favourites. My schnitzel was excellent and... More

The decor is plain - rustic and original, with no frills, like candles, on the table BUT what a lovely experience. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. Staff, especially the waiter Alex, were very friendly and helpful. He explained the menu and we were able to order different items and combinations. The restaurant is family owned by... More

Loved the place, the atmosphere inside is cozy and typical of the Beisl from Vienna, the service and staff are extremely nice, smiling and helpful. Felt like at home. Good dishes, you will find your typical tafelspitz and wienerschnitzel. 2 dishes, one dessert a bottle of wine for 2 will set you back less than 50 Euros!

On the corner of Pressgasse/Muhlgasse. Its exterior looks uninspiring with a small outside terrace and a single door to enter but once inside it is remarkably spacious with plenty of room between tables. The lager is very good. The food is exceptionally appetising featuring wholesome Viennese home cooking at its best. Friendly attentive service and sensible prices.

This was another reccomendation from our friendly Saint Shermin pension, just south of the ring road. It is a simple.traditional Austrian place. We ate outside where a kind waitress helped us with the German listings. Our food came quickly and was delicious. We ate from the special menu - cooked fennel with parmigiano and oil, lamb sausage with potoatoes and... More

This eatery was the one our party wanted to visit most. All twelve of us needed to eat and the owner was very accommodating. Lovely waitress explained the menu to all twelve and was extremely patient. Good wholesome Austrian food in quaint and comfortable surroundings.

Couple years ago we visited Gasthaus Ubl on a regular basis. But then things have changed, and though we tried to visit 1-2 times, we just couldn't keep their closing times in mind (closed on Monday and Tuesday). But this week we focused and tried our luck on Wednesday :) And I am happy to report nothing has changed. This... More

This was one of the restaurants we visited in our search for more traditional Austrian restaurants that catered to locals. Apparently, Franz Joseph used to frequent this restaurant and you just can't get more Viennese than that. The food was delicious - I especially enjoyed the braised fennel we had as an appetizer. The atmosphere was simple yet comfortable, looking... More
