We had read very good reviews about this place. We got a table outdoors. We had a very bad experience getting service and then getting our food .It seemed like forever. Asking for more water was impossible. The clincher at the end was that they didn't take credit cards. One of us actually had to go out at night and find an... More

The Esterhazykeller does have an English menu for the food but not for the drinks. The menu is small and unfortunately it does not provide a lot of lactose free options so my boyfriend didn't have a lot of options to choose from. He ended up getting something like a kebab and the rice they brought with it did have... More

Reasonable enough but maybe there was a staff shortage - service was slow - and brisker business across the Haarhof at Bierhof was noticeable. Also check in advance if they accept card payments - we had to pay cash for a bill that included everything down to the last bread roll ...

We had a lovely simple meal of grilled trout with broiled potatoes and salad. With a large bottled water and three glasses of wine the total bill was only 48.50 euros. The trout was cooked perfectly and tasted great. We sat outside in a small plaza at arable as far as possible away from smokers at other tables.

My husband and I went for a late dinner after the opera (probably around 10pm) and sat outside in the beautiful courtyard. I had the trout which was cooked to perfection and my husband had a traditional Viennese pork dish. The Austrian red wine was absolutely superb and my husband enjoyed the beer. Our server was friendly and helpful. We... More

We walked past here many times before we realized our mistake. You're in an old cellar, and its REALLY COOL. The food is great, the ambience is awesome, and the service was spectacular. The only thing I'd take away negatively, is that our waitress offered us two bills, one where we could leave our own tip, and one with the... More

Came and the inside was empty. The outside seating was not though. I have heard for lunch it is a bit cheaper. Menu had a section in English. Had the Schitzel and potatoe salad. Was very good and a large beer.

DO NOT bother travelling to visit this restaurant. We waiting for 20 minutes before being given a menu and we were sat for another 10 waiting to have our food and drinks order taken. During this time another couple had sat down at the table behind us and were still waiting for a menu to be given to them. There... More

I was lucky enough to visit during a warm spell and the little square outside the restaurant was buzzing; with tables from this and the adjacent Bierhof. I didn't see the cellar that other reviewers have commented on but sitting out in the square is quite delightful. I had the traditional Weiner clear soup with noodles and it was excellent... More

We had eaten here in December, inside, and loved the beer, so with one evening in Vienna before a flight, we found our way back for some beer. Wanting a snack too, we asked for some potatoes and got a big delicious bowl of potato wedges. This time we sat outside and very much enjoyed the evening.

Description

Staying in Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the center. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
