About
The Schachtelwirt is an excursion through the Austrian/Bohemian cuisine. All dishes are of the highest quality because only regional products are used by small partner companies. In addition, everything is lovingly produced by hand. There is a small weekly menu, which includes 6 dishes: 1 larger starter 2 meat dishes (one is our famous roasted pork) 1 vegetarian food (if possible vegan)1 pasta dish (most of the time vegetarian)and 1 dessert. Except for the roasted pork the dishes change weekly!

We had a warm welcome as soon as we entered. The guy bought us the menu and was so helpful in helping us choose. We had the signature pork dish and also the casserole. They were both absolutely delicious and very good portions too, I had a struggle to finish it. Prices were very reasonable especially considering portion size and the quality of the food. Everything is prepared in an open kitchen in front of you. Food was fresh and the service very fast. Would definitely recommend. Great little place 👌🏼

Cosy little restaurant serving excellent hearty meals for a great price.
The menu is small, but there’s a good selection to choose from. On the recommendation of the staff I chose their signature dish; which was super tasty and massive! Even though I really enjoyed it, there was no way I was going to able to finish it!

After reading some reviews here on TA, we were really hyped to visit this place. It didn't only live up to the expectations, it crushed them. The owner himself took a great care of us and we had a good chat with him. We ended up ordering their signature dish, which is roasted pork with sauerkraut and Semmelknödels. It was absolutely delicious. We even came back later that day to grab two more meals for dinner. It was that good! Overall we loved the concept, style, execution and energy of this place and we consider it the best food-experience we came across in Vienna.

Highly recommended! Wie had the pork roast with dumplings and cabbage as well as the Alt Wiener Krautfleckerl and both came hot and fresh (in the box) on the table, both with manageable prices. You should try it! And our dog was also welcomed, so clear recommendation!

We went there since it was next to our hotel and just wanted some take out. The menu isn’t big and it supposed to change (not in basics) every now and then. The guys that work there are super helpful and patient to any ‘’stupid’’ question you might have. The prices are average not cheap. The roast pork that is their main ingredient is great, super soft and tasty but the dumplings are unfortunately average. The pork skin though was unfortunately a disappointment that is way the 3 star review.

Tasty Austrian style street food!
We were looking for something quick, authentic and on the more budget side of restaurants - and this delivered!
Great location also!
The menu is limited - BUT what they do have is delicious and at a great price. Staff are super friendly also! Highly recommend their signature dish - pork, crackling and bread dumplings! Will be retuning tomorrow!

This is a rather small place quite in the centre, near tourist attractions. The two guys running the place have been quick and kind. The menu is changing weekly, contains local, authentic food. The local food makes it worth eating here. The layout of the place is simple. We sat down but got the food in the takeaway boxes. OK but made the experience less appealing. They had three lager beer in bottle, all good but I would not call this a spectacular selection. If you need authenticity and have limited time and budget, I can definitely recommend the place. For a more relaxed dinner experience not so much.

We had a great lunch there.
The wurst salad was really fresh on a hot summer’s day.
I would say that they’re not that great for “gluten free options”. They didn’t have the GF radler in stock and my wurst salad came with a roll on top, despite explaining that I was Gluten-free. The server was very sweet but gave the disclaimer that they were to small to give a Gf guarantee.

This place is amazing if you are looking for local and traditional food. The staff is wonderful and the owner has been here working most times that we have come to the restaurant. The food is made fresh each order and comes out quickly. 10/10 has been the best place we have gone this entire trip (we have gone 4 times in five weeks.)

The idea of a weekly menu is very cool. I had the signature dish and enjoyed half of it - the crackling was strange but the pork & dumplings spot on. My partners dish was also pleasant.
Overall, quick and friendly service for a decent price but just not quite 5 star.

Informal place, small and with few tables. The food is served in paper boxes so it is also excellent for take away. Here we discovered a menu made up of a few things done well and of excellent quality. The staff is young, friendly and super helpful. To try!

Very close to the Anker watch we find this place that is not very striking or ostentatious from the outside. I wouldn't know how to define it, they have a weekly menu at pretty good prices (for Vienna). Traditional food reinvented? The difficult thing is finding a space since there are few tables. Many people buy it to take away. The two dishes we tried were very good (a kind of pulled pork, various accompaniments and a free-range chicken with some roasted potatoes, very good!!!

Something that tigers like the most - a small restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. There are literally a few (if I remember correctly, 5) tables inside, but - of course - you can order takeaway. Very nice service, also in English. Food - extremely tasty. We ate roasted pork, which is the restaurant's specialty, deep fried chicken with potatoes and chicken hearts ragu. Everything was freshly and deliciously prepared. Prices very affordable. Try it whenever you can, because the menu changes every week.

Highly recommended place. Very tasty and elaborate food. Don't get carried away by the image that they serve it in take-out boxes.
The girl is very friendly and explains all the dishes well. If you have doubts, let her advise you.
It only has 4-5 tables, it is advisable to reserve or take food to go.

The place is very small (it only has about 5 tables) and is mainly takeaway. While we were inside, many workers from the area came to get food.
The menu is updated every week or so and the food is fast but very good (and different from what we are used to).
Highly recommended.
