Tasty, big portions and the guys there were very helpful. English is not a problem and you can pay by card. They have only a few options in the menu (5 when we ate there) but we definitely were happy with our picks.

This small but inviting eatery is the best value for money you will find. The staff were friendly, welcoming and incredibly efficient. We had the roast pork which was a standout meal. We have travelled to several other countries in Europe before coming to Vienna...More

It was a spontaneous visit with my family and our newborn daughter. The place is modern and clean, has take away options and several tables inside , enough place for a buggy. There are only few options on the menu but they are just amazing!...More

We spent 2 weeks in Austria and visited a good number of restaurants. This was, bar none, the best. The food is unfussy and out of this world good. We also found the guys behind the counter to be charming and welcoming. Personally, I love...More

The food is decent although medium-sized portions. Staff are great. Not too expensive. But the music is relentless and loud techno. In a small space like this be sure you love techno before you enter.

We ordered the two pork speciality dishes and neither disappointed. The bread dumplings were amazing. We went to this place because it was in the neighbourhood we were staying and many reviews said it was "child-friendly" which I came to learn is child-friendly for perhaps...More

It’s got a very trendy, urban, “hole in the wall” vibe to it. Very good food that they make right in front of you. We had the pork and vegetarian meal and they were both amazing. It’s a small menu so not great for picky...More

Came to this place thanks to trip adviser and it definitely lives up to its ranking. Cute little joint which get VERY busy around lunch time. Super delicious traditional viennese food. Will be dreaming of those bread dumplings forever.

Description
The Schachtelwirt is an excursion through the Austrian/Bohemian cuisine. All dishes are of the highest quality because only regional products are used by small partner companies. In addition, everything is lovingly produced by hand. There is a small weekly menu, which includes 5 dishes: 1 larger starter 2 meat dishes (one is our famous roasted pork) 1 vegetarian food (if possible vegan) and 1 dessert. Except for the roasted pork the dishes change weekly!
