We have eaten many times in Thay restaurants and we can say that here you can find a good menu, but we found that some ingredients were not fresh and not very tasty. The staff is very kind in any case and the location is...very quiet.More
I will definitely have lunch there again! The restaurant is small, cute, slightly rickety furniture and informal atmosphere. Indeed reminded me of asian streetfood stalls, minus the throngs and noise, because it is situated in a quiet side street. The food is spice, well-priced and...tasted really really good! Absolute recommend, though if you are set on eating there in the evening maybe drop a reservation first, because of the small size. IMore
It's a tiny place, so naturally it can seem packed and chaotic given that so many people are trying to get a spot. The service sometimes gets backed up, but if you can look past that (and you should), the food is excellent and the...drinks are fun. The dishes have a spice level which is uncommon for Vienna (also a positive thing). Social distancing isnt really possible.More
Very authentic Thai restaurant, but very small. Friends of mine like the place and the food, but I didn't really enjoy the food and its too cramped. Maybe better to go there in the summer (sitting outside in the garden).
The food here is better than the average Thai, but it depends on what you order and when you come. This lack of consistency and a set up which makes the service/experience kind of 'frantic' is why I don't come here as often as others....Green papaya salad is quite good as is the beef jerky appetizer. Others, like red curry etc are pretty good but there are better places for Thai in Vienna.More
I’ll start this with a disclaimer: while I’m a big fan of various Asian dishes (mainly Japanese and Vietnamese), I’d never had Thai. Ever. My other half, having visited that part of the world on more than one occasion, insisted that we find a decent...Thai spot for my initiation. Mamamon resulted as the overwhelming favourite in Vienna after my hourlong research - so on we went! The right mood hits you the moment you get there - unlike other Asian spots nearby and around Vienna, Mamamon is anything but a fancy, minimalist, well-lit showcase. It is an authentically tiny, cramped place with shoddy wooden furniture, colorful table covers and plastic serving bowls. A little slice of Thailand. The staff matches the space - one slightly overwhelmed fellow rushing to deliver orders and one (or two?) cooks behind the bar. But since the place snugly fits not more than 15 people, there’s no need for more. There will be waiting times, be warned, if you catch them busy. However, the food was worth it! We both had Pad Thai, one chicken and one shrimp (pictured below). They were flavourful, sweet, with just a hint of spice and great texture - especially when you mixed the ingredients together. The chicken wasn’t particularly cooked to my liking (it seemed boiled and not enough so, despite not being undercooked at all), but somehow the dish was still amazing. We followed that up with the most amazing banana sticky rice, beautifully folded up in banana tree leaves - one of the best desserts I’ve ever had and the reason why it’s not pictured (I ate it right away!) and a nice honey ginger tea. Will definitely be returning to try the Tom Yum, their amazing looking homemade ice tea and some more of that rice!More
We visit Mamamon nearly once a week! Food is amazing, the atmosphere is cozy and the staff is nice. Please note that they have a very small restaurant, so I would suggest to book a table or call before you visit them!
Nice place (outside under the trees). The food is unfortunately not so nice. To small plates, too expensive. Pad Thai lame and maximum average. Where in Thailand do you get a whole chicken leg in your curry and have to cut it yourself with a...KNIVE on the table...? Service (even though no Thais) could smile sometimes (Land of the smile?). Sawasdee Krap.More
We had takeaway two nights in a row including curries and stir fries. The food is absolutely delicious and tastes like what we’ve eaten in northern Thailand. Highly recommend the food from Mamamon.
Super small place, but outdoor area if warm - excellent service - delicious Thai food - spicy if you like - will definitively go back
I have walked past this eatery many times and decided to try it the other day. My trial meal is always Tom Kha Gai and Pad Thai noodles with seafood. The food is good - there is not doubt about that. But, in Vienna all...the Tom Kha Gai soups are made with heavily diluted coconut milk - same here. Why? Don't ask me! It cannot be that coconut milk is so expensive that one has to water it down so much. I just miss the wonderful overall taste of the soup when comparing it with the many soups I had during my various trips to Thailand.More
