This is a fair trek up a big hill, I would say about 1.4 Miles. It is lovely scenery though with great views of the castle and City. It is a really picturesque building with an outside eating area and several eating areas inside. The highlight for me was the Apple Strudel, which was the best I had during my... More

We went to the Christmas Market held here on weekends in December. It was one of my favorites this year. It was very quaint with a fire in the fire pit and red lap blankets on each chair. There was a food kiosk that we had a plum filled fried sandwich with powdered sugar that was beyond description. And one... More

We walked up to the top on someone's recommendation and were thrilled with this place. The views are great, the atmosphere is gorgeous and relaxing, and the food is delicious (several in our group said it was the best food they had in Salzburg). The service is wonderful too - the owner (I think he was) translated the entire menu... More

Started our walk from Salzburg , through the woods, didn't realise it's was quite as far up to the top. Met some people who had been to the very top and they convinced us we should keep going. But we were out of water , any way we continued, lovely surprise when we reached the top. What a surprise, lots... More

On a very sunny and warm Sunday we started a hike from old town over Mönchsberg towards Festung Hohensalzburg and then down to old town, switched side of river, went to Linzer Gasse and continued to Kapuzinerberg where we rested at Franziskischlössl for Lunch at 2 or nearly 3 pm. It is a very cozy, beautiful located restaurant out in... More

Came accross this castle by accident having walked along the southern wall and dying for something to drink. Menu in German and not speaking the language took a stab at something called Bratl Grotl. Turned out - one of the best courses I have ever tasted. Lovely setting and very helpful waitress.

A great walk with wonderful views. Excellent salads and a relaxing environment with correct service. The homemade ice tea is delicious. A little great surprise.

What a wonderful surprise! It was a beautiful afternoon so we decided to do a bit more hiking. It's a pretty steep climb, but well worth it when you find such a charming beer garden. Hikers on the way down recommended it, but told us of the 5pm closing time! Since we were very near that hour, we sped up.... More

Just stumbled on this place hiking up. Charming. Beautiful building. Nice peaceful restaurant. We used it as an unexpected pit stop on our hike for wine and beer. The views of the city and mountains are the big bonus here.
