It is definitely the best place to try out local food. The location and the servants are great and you will find lots of locals going there. So if it is a cold or rainy day and you are more than 2 people, try to make reservations ahead.

Went on recommendation from hotel, and weren't disappointed. Great schnitzel and desserts. Wonderful atmosphere outdoors. In a picturesque candlelit alley. Would go back in a heartbeat.

On a beautiful early Sep evening, we arrived early enough to get a seat at the outdoor tables, but I would suggest that anyone wanting to dine during regular hours on a nice night have a reservation. The potato soup with crayfish on the menu caught my eye and I was intrigued, so I ordered it. Interesting, but not overly... More

Question: How many waiters does it take to serve a small beer? Answer: Three and even then it took 35 minutes and three reminders! It was a busy Wednesday evening, but still not an excuse for poor customer service. One male waiter spent over 10 minutes talking to a table of friends rather than doing his job. Food was good,... We ate several times at Zum fidelen Affen while vacationing in Salzburg. Located at the end of the old city, their menu offers lots of traditional Austrian dishes and a welcome number of menu items that are or can be made gluten free. The service is good, the food is very good, and the location is great.

Even though every table had a reserve sign on it, upon asking the waiter if any table was available we were informed we could take a table as long as we would be finished by 8:00 pm. As it was just a little after six, we happily took the offer and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and portioned... More

Cuisine that had an Austrian twist without resorting the cliches of the typical Salzburg tourist restaurant. Quality of meals was very good. And house white wine was also good. We booked in advance, which looked to have been essential as we saw several groups of people turned away when we eating as the restaurant was full.

Had dinner in this place. You had to queue to get a table so we went for a walk and came back later. Was a Wednesday night and it was full. Dinner was great and had some typical dishes with a twist. Staff was nice and all of them spoke English very well

Ate here twice in a few days after a recommendation from a local barman. We loved the good sized portions of local food. The beef goulash with potato dumpling and schnitzel were excellent. Why go to Austria and not eat the local food !!! Be aware it's always busy with locals and tourists - we were lucky to get seated... More

Arrived for much anticipated dinner and were warmly greeted by our waiter. We sat down and decided to order 2 of the traditional specials with roast chicken and pork dish. The food arrived speedily and looked well presented. Unfortunately the chicken was close to rubber and the pork so tough and overdone to be inedible. On top of the pork... More
