Terry and I have dined in many French Relais. If you're looking for Michelin Starred restaurants they're not the place to go, BUT, if you're looking for good food at a very affordable price then this is exactly where you should go. We popped into...here with a friend when we were passing through Caurel. I would describe it as a very basic place, totally unpretentious, but with a very honest kind of feel. Looking around it seemed like the pork belly was obviously very popular. Not my kind of cup of tea, but there were other choices, so that was fine. Both the girls thought that their choice of main was excellent (pork belly). Personally, I enjoyed my alternative. Service was good, prices were good, the food was excellent. What's not to like ??More

This pleasant little bar/restaurant is on main road, about 5 min drive from the lake. Easy parking a minutes walk away. Simple food, good value set menus, wide choice of fresh help yourself buffet starters. Friendly and helpful service by our young waitress who never...stopped smiling. Lots of locals/workers in bar and restaurant, always a good sign!More

Went for dinner last Friday; the fish and chips were excellent! Fresh fish with crispy batter and with mushy peas too! Huge portions. This is a traditional English meal cooked superbly by a French chef (I think!), and nicely served by friendly staff. Great vale...for money, lovely beer or wine to wash it all down with. Overall this was a great meal, good value for money, and we will be going back to try out the rest of the menu, which looked pretty comprehensive for what is really just a friendly local restaurant. Can't go wrong.More

2 stars as poor compared to many local French restaurants serving locals at lunch time. Soup de poisson out of a jar and steak too fatty to find the meat. And oven chips.

Don't be put off by the plastic chairs and tables and the fish and chips sign. We stopped here by chance and got a friendly welcome and the option of the Menu De Jour 12.50 euro or moules frites 9.50. We chose the Menu du...Jour. I had a buffet selection including delicious shell on prawns and then a ham hock and home made chips, waiting for my crime brûlée desert now. :)). This is a lovely relaxed French place full of French people with an authentic, unpretentious feel.More

Friendly staff, excellent value (4 course & Drinks for 2 = €25), good location. The meal started with a buffet salad including fish, meat and cheese. There were three main courses to choose from but our broken French and the waitresses broken English limited our...choice! There was a cheese course and then dessert from a choice of five. It was very busy despite the fact that the local area was very quite at this of year. Our dog was also made welcome!More

Good place to eat, the plat de jour was good value, although we didn't have it as they had run out of the the fish main course. Decided on omelettes which were great. Recommended food stop.

The Relais du Lac is a roadside village restaurant serving locals, cyclists, tourists and workers alike. The welcome is always very friendly and they serve good food cooked well. The 12.50€ menu de jour (three courses) is excellent value; there is an extensive salad buffet as...one of the starter courses each day and other starters over the past week have include olive and bacon muffins and oysters - both delicious. Mains usually come with a choice of accompaniment (chips, rice, pasta, haricots vert) and the desserts are generally traditional Breton fare (creme caramel, creme brûlée, isles flottante etc) although the apple crumble if you get a chance to try it is amazing and the ice cream is fantastic. Even with wine and coffee a meal for two comes in at less than 35€ here.More

A friendly roadside restaurant serving a range of fairly priced dishes. Some of our party had the 12e menu and we're pleased with the home cooking. Children enjoyed crepes and burgers. Staff were welcoming and helpful.
