Went to experience a traditional meal so we selected the meat Meze for three. We were four people but the waiter recommended to only chose three as it would be enough food. We started with some dips and a salad, both nice. It followed with a few small dishes, sausages, meatballs, different cheeses, vegetables and a lamb stew. All were very nice and enjoyed by us all. It followed up with some chicken skewers and more meat balls. It was delicious but we couldn’t finish it all. The waiter was right, three portions are enough. He also recommended a great local wine with our meals. A good choice. We got served a Zivania to finish off the meal. Overall a great meal and I would go back.

A charming restaurant with delicious meze

Karatello is a charming restaurant located in Limassol old town. The restaurant had a relaxing atmosphere and the staff were attentive - overall, service was great. We selected the meze option - which was exceptional. Portions are incredibly generous. Highlights included the lamb dish and deep fried halloumi in sesame seeds, with a sweet sauce as a accompaniment, and dessert - a fruit platter and deep fried churro style donut balls. We sampled some local white wine, recommended by the waiter which was a perfect addition to the meal. The waiters were especially kind, offering us some free local digestif at the end, alongside dessert. Overall, this was one of our culinary highlights in Limassol.

Lovely meals with a great atmosphere

We have visited twice in the past week, not only for the lovely local dishes, but also for the atmosphere of the bustling Limassol square in which the restaurant is situated. On both occasions we were very well looked after by the staff, especially George H who recognised us from our previous visit and took extra time to make sure we had everything we needed. I believe the food to be the most authentic of what we have tried on our trip, demonstrates by the number of Cypriots patronising the restaurant. Overall, we have had two wonderful meals her, and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Limassol or the surrounding area.

Too much too soon

Lovely venue with great atmosphere. The main issue was the service was way too quick, we booked the table for three at 7pm and we were out by 8.15. The first course came straight after the drinks arrived and the main arrived before we had finished the starters; looking around you could see other tables having the same problem. Several waiters walked around the tables and every time you had a sip of your drink, they topped your glass up. The restaurant was only modestly busy and we couldn’t understand their urgency. Commenting on the food is difficult as we felt forced to stuff it down without the opportunity to savour it. Not recommended.

Really disappointing

So disappointed having seen how busy this place gets. Food tasted of nothing but salt :( rarely complain but we politely asked for the calamari to be discounted from the bill because it was super chewy…. This was done but nobody asked why we had been unhappy with it and the bill was slammed down on the table without a word - waiting staff were extremely disinterested and borderline rude. First time in a long time that I’ve felt I couldn’t leave a tip, even the olives were inedible.

For me, the best Greek restaurant

For me, the best Greek restaurant in Limassol ! I was used to go there during 2 months and the quality of the dishes was always perfect. Sea food is fresh and well-cooked and I was never disappointed. Moreover, George and his team are very nice and helpful. I can say that my service was customized ! Finally you will be sure to spend a good evening because the place is very quiet and cosy. Don’t hesitate !

Every time we visit the beautiful island of cyprus and especially limassol we arrive at this restaurant karatello...We had for dinner dish musakka and my wife lamp chops... Fresh dishes and tasty...we order local beer and my wife the special cocktail of the day and was so fantastic and unigue. I think that the bartender has a lot of experiences of cocktails..Mr.George help us and suggest us our delicious dishes..The manager was very kindly and warm..Merci Beaucoup..Tout etait super..

Honest Cypriot food at its BEST - BLOODY AWESOME!

Had checked Trip Advisor for somewhere to go have lunch in Limassol and was impressed by the majority of the reviews. Set in the Limassol Carob Mill Museum complex, with a car park (payment required), thought it might be cheeky to go on a Sunday without making a reservation and nearly paid the price; the inside area (nicely climatized against the humid midday) was jam-packed. Luckily there was a free table for us and we quickly ordered our drinks. We asked our waiter (from Larissa, Greece) what he suggested … “the Meze” was his response. WHAT A SUGGESTION!!! The salad and dips were wonderfully fresh; the hot starters mouth watering and it continued from there; the kleftiko just like my dad used to cook it when we were here 70s-80s (fall off the bone juicy, succulent, aromatic meat), then the main course of the Meze came and by this time both my wife and I were seriously struggling. Thankfully we were offered a ‘doggy bag’ (they seem to have been faced with this issue before 😂); the uneaten meat and salad duly boxed up. A small wait before the final course came; a certain Monty Python sketch comes to mind. The food was of the highest quality and possibly the best ‘Cypriot’ meal we have had on island since moving here 11 months ago. The service was perfect, friendly, warm and attentive. Price-quality unbeatable. We seem to have found our favourite restaurant …. And we live 35 minutes away. Ανυπομονούμε να σας δούμε σύντομα.

We were invited by our cousin for launch with other members of the family.The shop was almost empty. Nice place in the hurt of limassol near the castle. Great expectations. The service was moderate to bad. Servants rush to serve us like fast food places.Ordering is made by clients on a paper menu with out much attentace on behalf of the staff.The traditional food like kleftiko was moderate. Other dishes very commercialized. We will hardly go there again.

Absolutely lovely

We had a trip planned into Limassol to see the castle, and following that wanted something to eat, and decided that traditional was what we wanted. the three of us were seated absolutely no problem, and we had the Meze, a selection of salads, dips, traditional dishes and sweets. All of which were beautifully prepared, cooked and very tasty. The highlights for me were the Kleftiko lamb, one of my favourite dishes and the Souflake - but the absolutely unexpected treat at the end of the honey balls with ice cream would be worth getting back on a plane for alone! The staff were very pleasant, service was attentive without being intrusive and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.

I am a Cypriot myself with family in limassol and I visit Limassol every year. This time around I was getting married in Cyprus and so had bought over a large number of family members from the UK. This restaurant is so good that I decided to bring many of our family and friends here multiple times during the week for dinner so they could all try the food and atmosphere. Some of our friends and family returned during the week, even without us! The food is amazing, we made sure that everyone had tried the meze and it was fantastic, we also tried some of the other dishes and they were just as good. The portion sizes were large and the quality of the food is perfect. I have eaten alot of greek food over the years and this place is somewhere that I would bring friends and family to experience a true Cypriot meal. Not only is the food great but the service is excellent. George looked after us so well all week and as we returned many times and sent many friends and family to the restaurant we were looked after amazingly. The location of the restaurant couldn’t be better, located in the heart of the old town it has a truly local feel.

I was wondering around on a Saturday night and many places were booked. Stopped this place thinking it was something else. The best thing about this restaurant was an excellent Spanish red that I forgot the keep the name of . Apart from that the food was not up to the excessive price compared to other nearby venues. Avoid better value for money nearby

There are always a lot of visitors, on the terrace under a canopy and fans 3/4 of all seats. Popular with locals and tourists for its good cuisine. King prawns for 9 Euros per piece and not for 100 grams as in the menu! Although the Prawns (king prawns) are really big and well cooked. The card account was written off twice, like the first time it didn’t go through! They said we’ll return it right away, they tried to do refund operations, but there’s no way to solve it without filing a claim with the bank! Well, the food: tasty and varied. There are a lot of waiters and by late evening they are lathered and tired. They bring drinks and food relatively quickly, but you can wait a long time for a check and payment

Nice location, average food

We have dined here a few times in the past. The location and ambience are very good, but the food is really quite hit or miss. The keftedes were good but way too salty and the beetroot salad was just sliced beets. The calamari was better and the excellent loukoumades with ice cream to end the meal was actually the highlight. The problem is that you pay a good price here, so the expectation is high.
