This family run rustic restaurant exists for decades and is a safe haven for locals as well as for tourists. Friendly welcome in a cramped and noisy restaurant where guests come to enjoy good local food and drinks for a correct price. It is not a wannabe place for wannabe people.... but a very good restaurant serving huge portions for hungry people :) I recommend the "Filet de boeuf"/Beef filet mignon with creamy green pepper sauce, the "Scampis Ă  l'armoricaine"/Prawns in a spicy tomato sauce are also excellent. Nice white wine from Luxembourg (Riesling). Also freshly tapped Lux. beer..... At noon they have a "menu du jour"/lunch special for an unbeatable price/quality ratio. Check their website. Reservations are a must.

Make sure to book to avoid disappointment, saw many people get turned away on a Saturday evening. Luckily I was able to have a bar seat. This seems to be the best choice for traditional Luxembourg dishes in the city. I went for the judd mat gaardebounen which was tasty, excellent quality and a huge plate full. Of course you are paying Luxembourg prices so 27.50eur. One thing to be mindful of is that a lot of restaurants close on Sundays and also seem to do a lunch service, close and then evening service. Partially for that reason I came back again on a Sunday afternoon. More Luxembourg traditional food I had kniddelen which delicious and again, fantastic quality. This was around 24eur. Outstanding service, I can see why this place is so busy. I would have loved to try more of the menu!

It was a wonderful evening. We ordered traditional local food and some drinks. The lentil soup, I received after 15 minutes, but for the main dishes, we needed to wait about 50-60 minutes (a waitress informed us about it during ordering). Everything was tasteful and well served. The local is tidy and nicely organized. I recommend this place.

We went to the first sitting to eat, and everything was reserved and by pure miracle we managed to eat at the bar, I recommend booking in advance. We decided to go to this restaurant because it had all the typical dishes of Luxembourgish food (which is not exceptional, but wherever you go, do what you see). The service was impeccable, super friendly, and the waiter who served us at the bar was wonderful, always with a smile. We chose the “bouchee a la reine” (a round puff pastry filled with pieces of chicken, mushrooms, and a kind of béchamel) and a “juud mat gaardenbounen” (smoked pork with broad beans that tastes like a sublime Saxon tenderloin), and to top off a waffle with dark chocolate and cream. 100% recommendable. Essential on your visit to Luxembourg, as quality-price is unbeatable.

We did our homework prior to our Luxembourg visit and specifically sought out Um Dierfgen for a dinner of typical Luembourgish dinner meal. The restaurant did not disappoint. Wife had the chicken with gravy that was baked in a pastry puff shell, and I had the Judd mat Gaardebounen. Both dishes are typical and both for very savory. Prices middle of the road European. Would we return? Definitely. Good table service and friendly staff. We left happy.

Perhaps unkindly, I was not expecting much from this place as Luxembourgish cuisine is hardly world-renowned (nor, I should mention, is my native British cuisine, so this is by no means an insult!). But, actually, we very much enjoyed our visit to Um Dierfgen: staff were warm, welcoming and were able to cheerfully produce a selection of high quality dishes and local wines for us. I very much enjoyed trying the pork and beans whose name eludes me and that are emblematic of Luxembourg: this combination was rather more tasty than I thought it might be. We also enjoyed the oversized vol-au-vent and rich local filled pasta served with bacon, though the latter were a little thick and dense (though I have to be honest, their rustic feel did not detract from our enjoyment of them). Thank you to the team here for successfully flying the flag for Luxembourg cuisine: we had an enjoyable evening and can recommend this restaurant to others hoping to experience this Lilliputian land’s local delicacies.

Not sure what was going tonight but we’ve been to this restaurant before and it wasn’t this bad. The service this evening was very bad and instead of paying attention to our table, time was spent socializing with friends sharing a dessert behind us (??) We waited a long time to order our meals and again to order more drinks. The meals were OK and were missing an accompaniment such as other food on the plate aside from a sad piece of cordon bleu that my husband received. When I asked where the rest was, I was told to sit down!!. We will never be back!!!

Not as good as I'd hoped. Service was fine, but the horse steak I ordered was quite dry and didn't taste very much. Perhaps I should've ordered something else, but I don't think it was very good value for money.

If, like us, you prefer to try traditional local food when visiting a new country, then this is the place to go. The waiter was really helpful and also Google to work out what everything was. We had read a review which said the portions were large, and yes they are. Knowing this, we shared the traditional starter, a famous soup/stew which was delicious. The mains were big, I had to finish my wife's, but really good. We were too full for dessert. The wine list was good also, but we decided to try various beers instead.

First visit here and it has been a long time since I visited a traditional Luxembourgish restaurant in general as there are not many here. The restaurant is quite cozy inside.. nothing special but also nothing to give you a reason to not feel comfortable. The staff were also friendly and also checking up on people if all is fine. There are a lot of traditional Luxembourgish main dishes that you can chose from and there are even two special vegetarian options. As for the taste: I cannot complain either as it tasted well. It is just a slightly more expensive restaurant then many e.g Italians but also not much more so. Good restaurant though.

Finding traditional food from Luxembourg can be pretty tricky so when I was recommended this place by friends I decided to book it to see what it was like . I can see why this place was recommended. The decor in the restaurant was very relaxing and homely. The staff were very pleasant and the food was delicious . I went for the national dish of Judd Mat Gaardebounan which is a smoked pork collar with broadbeans . The pork fell to bits when touched. The broad beans were melt in the mouth and the potatoes were brilliant. For my dessert I went for a chocolate and cream mousse which was rich and luxurious . If you are looking to try the local cuisine this place needs to be at the top. You will not regret the decision.

This restaurant was recommended by the 'ask us' team from the Tourist Office. The 'ask us' team/s are out and about on the streets. They recommended as a restaurant to enjoy / savour local cuisine. I was impressed. Friendly reception. Luckily for me, there was someone who spoke English. Between helpful waiter and Google translate ... we got it figured out ! Ordered bean / legume soup ... tasty ... it's green beans rather than legumes ! Comes with wonderful / tasty / fresh bread ! I also enjoyed a hot chocolate (I asked for it to be made weak). And a torte ... which was an apple torte / pie , with the most delicious ice cream. Could have done without the squirty cream stuff ! A lovely lunch, in a delightful restaurant, with wifi ! I hadn't booked ... but would probably be a good idea to do so ... it was pretty busy !

Had a business dinner with my team here and enjoyed it very much. To start, the wine selection is amazing. We decided to go for a Grand Cru wine from Saint-Emilion. My colleague started with the frog legs as a starter, I myself went for the Quiche Lorraine. Both were very good. For mains we both had the schnitzel, which was Wiener art and in this case turkey. Having just returned from Vienna, it was 'different' and maybe not completely comparable. Yet it tasted good. The served who served us were very friendly and internationally focused. We had a nice chat with them and about Luxemburg. All in all I can very recommend this restaurant.

It’s definitely a nice place to have a try on the traditional Luxembourgish food. I would say it feels very much like the mixture of the french and german food culture or maybe that’s their style. But really enjoyed the meal.

First visit to Luxembourg meant trying out Luxembourgish foods. At Brasserie Restaurant um Dierfgen, we ordered their Judd mat Gaardebounen (smoked pork collar with broad beans) which is one of their recognized national dishes. Add some small green salads, creme brulee, chocolate mousse and pinot noir and we had ourselves a Luxembourgish dining experience.
