Perfect risotto with a delightful rabbit ragout topping. Tuna tartare just the job, followed by succulent boneless quail and a nicely rare Angus fillet. Waiter said the chef would be happy that we asked for rare. We were pretty happy too. Oh and amazing view!

Visited Giannini several times - the staff are really helpful - the atmosphere welcoming and friendly - the view of Sliema creek breathtaking all year round. The menu and specials are always inviting and interesting to choose from, complemented with a wide variety of wines. Service is efficient and fast - really good value for money - the chef himself... On Martin Randall tour--we had concert at 7:30 PM and they did a great job getting us fed and to concert. 3 choices for mains--my stone bass was excellent--others on tour also thought meal was excellent.

Ate here just before Xmas - had been on one occasion before. It is just round the corner from Hastings Gardens and easy to find. The odd thing is that you have to go up to the place in a rather cramped lift (or walk) - before being delivered to a pleasant room with large windows and a balcony with... More

We had a very nice meal here. Service was friendly and attentive. It was nice to discuss the dishes of the day direct with the chef who is producing good tasty food which is not over fussy. It is not a big restaurant so a good idea to book even in January.

We went as a party of 12 to celebrate a 60th Birthday. The location was superb as was the food, the entertainment and the service. The staff/owners could not have been more helpful, they catered for my Vegetarianism and went off-menu for one of our party. I could not recommend this restaurant too highly.

We booked in here for dinner on New Year's Eve. The meal was a fixed menu and you had the table for the evening. There are probably about 40 covers in the restaurant, it's quite tightly packed - but also quite nicely done so it doesn't feel too crowded. The location and view out over the harbour is absolutely stunning... More

Just before Christmas my wife and I with two friends booked an evening meal at this restaurant. On arrival the welcome was war and friendly but professional. You travel up in a small lift to the restaurant itself where you are again warmly welcomed. The restauarant is smart but warm in atmosphere and the staff add positively to the occasion.... More

The restaurant has amazing view, great balcony just across the bay. The food is good but not inspiring. You can find several restaurants in Malta with better food. All in all a nice dinner but nothing to write home about.

During our week in Malta, this was our "splurge" dinner. There was nothing wrong with it, but it wasn't memorable. Tables were a bit crowded together; our server didn't seem too interested in us. The food was very good but not remarkable; it was a bit costly for the experience. Still, a solid choice.

Description
Giannini a family run business since 1988 is an excellent place to have lunch or dinner when visiting Valletta. The restaurant is situated above St. Michael's bastions with vast views of Manoel Island and the pretty Marsamxetto Harbour. The third floor of a typical Malta townhouse, reached by lift from the ground floor lounge bar, has been converted into a delightful restaurant. Giannini tends to be popular with locals for business lunches and romantic dinners giving it a casual but discreet atmosphere. The cuisine is a delicious blend of Mediterranean food. Fresh fish is available daily (ask the host) and you should also consider the daily specials such as the pastas scribbled on the board. The a la carte menu changes according to season with the current options for starters including carpaccio of octopus, risottos and fresh seashells amongst others. Mains include roasted lamb, local rabbit, pan seared duck breast and daily fresh fish and fresh angus beef. The a-la-carte menu is attached next to Giannini's contact details above. A rather comprehensive wine list is also available to complement the meal.
