Very extensive menu and wine list. First courses that do not make you regret pasta cooked in Italy. Spacious and furnished with many references to the Belpaese. Great prices. Average service. In spite of the menu completely written in Italian, the waiters do not speak it.

While in Valletta we ate at Grana Cucina three times as we really enjoyed the food and good value for money compared to other restaurants in the tourist area. I really enjoyed the pasta dishes, the mushroom ravioli and mushroom risotto so tasty. The tiramisu was really good. This was the restaurant at the Cumberland Hotel we stayed at and the breakfast good as well. Staff was friendly

My friend and I had landed on Malta a few hours earlier. After getting settled into our accommodations, we ventured out, and came upon Grana Valletta. What a great find! The waitstaff were very attentive, and the ambience in the dining room was casual yet inviting. The risotto I ordered was over the top delicious—so creamy and satisfying. My friend’s dish delivered as well—chock full of seafood abundance. We each ordered a glass of the suggested local red wine which was smooth and warming, We tried to revisit this lovely restaurant again, but disappointingly, it was closed the night we went. I would definitely recommend Grana Valletta. 😊

We visited mid-week on a quiet January night. Fantastic building in a very convenient location. The downstairs area where we were seated is cut out of the rock with corridors leading to the toilets and a fascinating staircase leading into the depths of underground Valletta. It makes for an atmospheric and intriguing location. On to dinner. Off to a great start with the mushrooms, Funghi Trifolati, from the antipasto menu, piping hot and tasty, a real winner. Probably the best cooked mushrooms I have had. We ordered main courses of Linguine Allo Scoglio and Pollo Alla Pizzaiola, chicken topped with ham and cheese, together with a side of roasted vegetables. The linguine was very good and generous although a couple of the mussels looked a bit suspect. That aside it was well seasoned and very tasty. The chicken was another matter, the ham topping was two squares of tasteless reformed packet ham and a slice of low quality Emmental cheese topped with a tasteless tomato sauce. I was expecting a tasty Parma ham or similar, the supermarket packeted ham was a real disappointment. The side of roasted vegetables was horrible, tasted as though they hade been reheated more than once with a nasty after taste. We returned them and the waiter was very apologetic. However, the service was faultless and courteous. Overall, ok but a bit disappointing. If they up the standards and attention to detail a bit Grana Cucina could be very good.

The attitude of the Asian waiter with dyed blonde hair was really weird. When I was having breakfast, he served the food to me for the first time and told me "You can take pictures now" (Just because I'm Asian? What kind of disrespectful stereotype is this?). The second time, he came to collect the plate when he saw that I hadn't finished eating. I replied that I hadn't finished eating, and he pretended not to hear me and just (fake) smiled and said thank you, then took the plate away from me? ? I suggest that friends who don't want to be served by such disrespectful Asian waiters should avoid this restaurant

The place looks good, but grumpy and apathetic waitstaff. Before the arrival of the variegated bruschetta, they bring us a cup of burnt popcorn, ditto for the bread of the bruschetta. Bad guine al scoglio, uncleaned mussels, frozen and not fresh raw squid. The English couple in front of us, who took the same plate, same disgusted look. After the first taste, despite leaving everything and being told that it was not good the staff showed complete indifference. Paid up and gone. I strongly advise against it.

I'm a restaurateur in Rome my place has 100 years of history! And not to sin presumptuous but cooking and catering I know! together with my sister-in-law I ate in this very cozy restaurant clean and not touristy, I congratulate chef Maurizio for the dishes I saw pass but also for what we ate! Considering the place was full he managed to bring out dishes worthy of a highly professional chef I went in person to compliment him. Highly recommended

Had been looking forward to trying here, having seen it from the street, but was overall disappointed. Firstly, don’t sit downstairs - it was empty and had no atmosphere, too bright. We did ask to move upstairs and they could accommodate this which was good. The starters were great (octopus and sautéed mushrooms) but they brought out an incorrect dish to begin with, so one of us had to wait to eat. The mains were average - spaghetti vongole (average) and carbonara (awful, too cheesy). We left half of the carbonara and when the server cleared up he asked us what was up. We told him it was too cheesy and he said “yes it is far too cheesy and salty, if I would have taken your order I would have said have something different” - very strange that they’re serving food the servers have strong feedback on! When the bill came, they had charged us for the incorrect starter, which was much more expensive. When I caught the servers attention he immediately said “yes I know what’s wrong, sorry I can sort that” without us even telling him… and he brought the bill back “with 10% off” as if this was an apology, which was about the same value as the correct dish would have been. Overall, food was ok, service was patchy and I would recommend for a quick bit, albeit not cheap, rather than a nice meal on a Saturday evening.

We came upon this restaurant when walking up a side street and we’re so glad we found it as the food is extremely good quality and good value for money. We had the lamb chops and a prawn pasta dish and took a recommended Maltese Chardonnay and it was all great. Nice friendly vibes. Would definitely recommend.

Grana restaurant never fails in culinary excellence, the food presentation is good and the menu is varied for everyone tastes . The staff are courteous and helpful in rendering your visit a pleasant experience. Their Carbonara is served and cooked in the authentic Italian way and what about the tiramisu simply great . Would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting our capital Valletta .

It happened by chance on the first evening in this beautiful island, walking in the center of Valletta when hunger called and was already certain. The Hauteville wine nothing much, the olives very good, my spaghetti with clams with some nice veraci, the risotto of my friend instead a disaster, drowned in oil. The place is very, very nice inside, where we took the typical prickly pear digestive, which we were not offered

We found this restaurant on the second day of our holiday. It isn’t on one of the main streets and we liked that we could look at the menu without being “pounced on”. This is a lovely restaurant. The staff are very helpful and friendly and apart from the fish soup which wasn’t to my taste, the food was absolutely delicious. We ate here 3 evenings and if we’d had longer in Malta we would have eaten there again. If we ever return to Malta we will definitely eat here.

GRANA restaurant in Valletta is a must-visit for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience in Malta. The food is top-notch, with generous portions and superb quality that will leave your taste buds begging for more. The seafood and fish dishes are particularly noteworthy and are sure to impress even the most discerning of palates. In addition to the delicious food, the wine selection is excellent, although there were a few items that were not available during our visit. Nevertheless, the available options were more than enough to complement our meal perfectly. The ambiance at GRANA is lovely, with a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere that is perfect for a romantic evening out or a special occasion with family and friends. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable, always on hand to offer recommendations and ensure that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional. The only downside was that the toilets were not very clean, which was a bit disappointing. However, we hope that the management will take note of this feedback and make improvements for the future. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at GRANA restaurant in Valletta, and we would definitely return and recommend it to anyone visiting Malta. The exceptional food, great wine selection, and attentive staff make it a must-visit for any foodie or lover of seafood.

With a 60 seat capacity Grana is tucked away in one of the picturesque side streets of Valetta. A good selection of food is available including a fish of the day option. The food is well presented and the service was good considering the restaurant was very busy. The fresh fish was well cooked and the theatre is being shown the cooked fish before watching the waiter remove the head etc and presenting you with the meat of the fish. Overall a good restaurant to eat in although booking in advance is recommended at peak times.
