We found this pleasant eating space shortly after passing the shoddy door which gave us the ‘no-go’ as an entrance zone (it was actually the entrance). The meticulous Maltese-bread woman piqued our interests through her thorough explanations of the daily specials, although only the mother took up the snapping ‘red’ offer. The mixed starter brought all sorts of foreign delights to our palets, this included: sheep cheese, sheep cheese with spicy grass clippings and sprinkling of salty beans. The main course filled the table with meats and veggies to die for, although the old meat sauce was a little too rich for my skin tone. Nevertheless I must say that it was consistent and well cheffed. I would not recommend the desert platter because it’s in fact a single desert shaped into different pastries and powders. For those with rich needs and a lust for a taste of malta, i recommend.

We visited this restaurant for the first time last week after a friend recommended it. Its up a dead end alley and if it wasnt for the sign just before Pizza Hut would be easy to miss. The restaurant looks charming and traditional and am sure would be cosy in the winter. We sat outside and it was pleasantly cool. It certainly wouldnt win any awards for setting as you are surrounded by tall office buildings and apartments. But as we like peace and quiet when we eat it suited us well. Would be nice to have some plants or flowers to add a bit of colour but i presume this area doesnt belong to the restaurant. But the quality of food and service makes up for any shortcomings with regards to setting. The two foreign waitresses who dealt with us were professional, helpful and efficient. The restaurant seemed to adhere to protocol with regards to covid 19, The tables were well spaced out, our temperatures were taken on arrival and contact details. The menu covers a wide range of dishes and there were also specials which the waitress carefully described. We selected the maltese platter which was ample for two people as served with crackers and warm ftira bread. There was the usual mix of beans, olives, cheeses, dips and sausage and all were delicious. We both ordered the beef tagliata and asked for it be cooked medium to well done . The steak was just as we ordered tender full of flavour and no blood. This was served on a bed of roast veg and with rocket and cheese shavings and also a generous portion of potatoes. The wine covered a good range of wines both in price and country of origin. Thought wine prices fair and started from 14,50 a battle. Good also to see the choice of local water as always feel its a rip off when charged 7 euros for a bottle of foreign water. We enjoyed the evening and hope to return to maybe try some of their fish dishes. The prices were very fair considering the portions and the fact that the vegetables were all included in mains price

We were so lucky early on Friday evening to just walk in at the right time, a table was ready within a few minutes. I had the fish soup, my hubby had the traditional minced beef rolled in vine leaves served with veg and roast potatoes. We both had the traditional Maltese dessert...which was Ab Fab. Tutti-frutti home made ice cream, served with a ricotta cheese stuffed pastry, biscotti and also a traditional type of Maltese fudge. All beautifully presented on a slate platter. I am so glad I just had the soup, it was a generous serving. A bottle of Maltese wine was around the €10 mark. We had such fun in this lively restaurant and such good service, (not rushed ) we booked for last night as well. This time, I had baked in the oven whole sea bream with veg and roasted potatoes, the fish was beautifully cooked and fell off the bone, but was very moist, hubby had a homemade ravioli which he said was excellent . Prices are very reasonable...don’t miss going to this amazing restaurant. Thank you to all the lovely staff who work so hard and are so attentive. Perhaps book a table!

Disappointing. We were not made to feel welcome. The restaurant is open all day but, arriving at 4:15 pm seemed to inconvenience the waiting staff who were preparing for the evening. The food was very salty and the tuna in my pasta was the cheapest out of a tin.

We came there for dinner without reservation. The place is very popular so it's better if you make a previous reservation. To get there you have to go through some stairs, it's located in a small corridor with some tables in the corridor. The situation is very cosy and the restaurant too, very warm, and elegant with wood decoration in a traditional way. The menu has Maltese specialities. We ordered two starters, first the malteses platter, it was very big! with malteses sausage, bigilla, beans, olives, capers, sun dried tomatoes, gozo cheese, passata and tuna dip, it came with water crackers and malteses bread. Good quantity and good quality, very good. Then we ordered the seafood salad, it had shrimps, mussels, octopus, cucumber, onion, tomato and several kinds of lettuce. It was very fresh and with good flavour. Everything with two pint of cisk for 28.20, very good for the meal. The service was very kind and professional. Undoubtedly a must in Sliema to try local food.

Our Airbnb hostess recommended this place. She was not wrong. Very rigorous Covid checks could be construed as officious when, in reality, they are just following the rules. So we sat inside. Genuinely friendly service. They treated our daughters as human beings, which has been lacking in places this week. But the food: very good. There was complimentary tapenade (might be called something else in Malta). Delicious, and served with bread that was either straight out of the oven or I’m a monkeys uncle. Mains were uniformly high quality. We got the girls the Maltese pastry platter for dessert. They liked some and not others. Hey ho. We washed it down with a bottle of local house white which was eye-wateringly cheap. The waitress pointed out that quality isn’t correlated with price; she was right, when she could have instead tried to up-sell. A very high quality dining experience for the price, and I’d give 6 stars if I could. I reviewed the Kings Own Band Club in Valletta last night. The Kings Own had completely sublime food which far surpassed Ta Kris. But the front of house at the Kings Own was a shambles whereas Ta Kris was the slickest of slick. Ta Kris is a far better restaurant. By the way, I’ve never once thought that I’ve been ripped off in Malta.

I was in Malta for 5 days in April and the food here was so good we had to make sure we ate here twice. The restaurant was bustling both days despite it not yet being “high season”, the first night we were asked to wait 20 minutes which we did not mind doing as there are many bars close by to pass the time, the second night the main waitress managed to squeeze us in as a reservation had not turned up, and she recognised us from earlier in the week, but did see many people get turned away, so I would recommend booking in advance especially in summer months. The food did not disappoint, on both nights my partner and I shared a starter of octopus and a dessert of cheesecake. For mains we both opted for traditional rabbit stew the first night and the second night I had the chef special of a seafood platter of 4 different fish fillets and my boyfriend had the steak. We were delighted with both meals. I think both meals came to around €70 euros all together including a bottle of wine which we found incredibly reasonable for the middle of Sliema and the quality of the food. There was also complimentary bread and olive tapenade both nights, and a limoncello aperitif after dinner. The staff on both nights were so friendly and accommodating and the ambiance of the restaurant was bustling and lively, with a mix of Maltese people and tourists alike. This place will be top of my list for everyone I hear going to Malta in future and I’m hoping I can revisit again myself soon!

Great place! Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. There was 6 of us, definitely book before as many people were turned away because they were fully booked. We had booked from the UK on the Sunday before we arrived and went on the Thursday (my in-laws have been to Malta many times and love this restaurant). We had 2 Maltese platters to start between 6.... was more than enough. I had the sea food salad for my main (pictured) and it was UNREAL!!!! (Wouldn’t normal say that about a salad). Valletta wine is lovely, would recommend it with dinner. Lovely vibe and the staff were so helpful and pleasant. This is a must when visiting Sliema. They do a lunch time seating so if you haven’t booked this may be a good option.

We where in 4 and we started by ordering 3 starter and 4 main course. Mr Giorgio suggested to start with only one starter because all the food was too much. So we followed his advice and he was right. Portions were quite abundant. We took the following courses: Rabbit: was delicious and tasty with some lovely mint Spaghetti with rabbit: delicious and the pasta was “al dente” Octopus salad: abundant and the octopus was perfectly cooked Grilled fish: very well cooked and not dry. Finally we took a mix of desserts. Very very recommended. Nice food and very kind persons!

Spending a week in Sliema, we wanted to try Maltese food. Two restaurants came up in the area: ta' Kris and il- Merrill. After a disappointing service experience at the latter, which is small and quite cramped, ta' Kris stood out by far. The online booking was easy; the dining area was spacious with good gaps between tables and there was a lovely vibe about the place. The interior has lots of character. Staff were efficient and attentive from start to finish (unlike il-Merill, where we were forgotten about) and the menu was varied and interesting. We shared a Maltese platter for starter, had Octopus and Beef stew respectively for mains and finished with a local liqueur to accompany a shared dessert platter, rounded off by coffee. Despite choosing the most expensive local wine, which was excellent, the whole meal came in at just under €100, which we thought was great value. The food could not be faulted, like the service. Highly recommend.

A small intimate restaurant which offers friendly personalised service. On our second visit all the staffs we met on our first visit remembered us. The restaurant has a policy of only accepting custom from fully vaccinated individuals and you must show your vaccine certificate. Well done to them. The food is very good both in quality and quantity. They also offer a complimentary bean and garlic dip with warm bread and traditional crackers which was delicious. So far we have tried the stuffed chicken breast in cream sauce, the lamb stew, the braggiola and the veal escalopes. The selection of Maltese wine comes in at a very reasonable price. We will certainly be returning before we leave Malta.

Over the years, I have typically had a night in Ta'Kris when staying in Sliema, and it had always been busy and enjoyable. For obvious reasons, this year is different. We tried to book in person, and had difficulty initially finding someone who could understand us during the day. It is noteworthy that this restaurant, which has a public health seal of approval, wants to see your covid certificate on entry, not that I could criticise them for this. I ate there twice this year, because I had concerns about finding a restaurant seat over the weekend because Sliema on a Friday night gets a bit hectic. I also booked for a Sunday night when some places are closed. The menu is dominated by somewhat heavy local dishes including a lot of rabbit which my wife enjoys. They serve an included appetiser of dip and bread/biscuit, so a starter is not really necessary. Portions can be huge and heavy, so this is probably for the best. The first time we went, I had baked pork. It was ok, but had clearly been pre-cooked for some time, and vegetables were overcooked and a bit soggy. The second time I had the braggioli, a tyoical Maltese beef olive. Again, this was ok, but clearly had been pre-prepared and was a bit heavy. My wife had a more or less full rabbit the first time and pasta the second. The bills came to a bit less than average, This is a busy crowded place and would not be suitable for a quiet/romantic dinner. It has a quaint ambience, having been a bakery in the past. Turnover is quite brisk: you would not really want to hang about. On both occassions, some of the staff taking our order were a bit brusque and not personalised as others might suggest, but this may be related to the nights that we went over the weekend, and their having to deal with the current difficult situation. On the other hand, the server was great and engaged with us. It was not that there was anything wrong, because it was pretty much like I remembered, and the food had not changed, but the world had changed. I simply did not enjoy it as much as some of the other places I went, and maybe the traditional fare needs a modern twist. I don't know. My wife loved it.

When you spend literally hundreds of Euro at a restaurant, then they want 69c to box leftovers, it leaves a sour taste :(. I was going to leave it at that, but I spotted a number of other reviewers comment on the rudeness. This is really unfortunate for the individual servers who did a great job, all spoilt by the maitre's unsuitability to be greeting guests. The problem is that I then saw some reviews that commented on the food too. I'll leave at that for now, but...

Authentic Maltese Cuisine We really enjoyed our meal at this restaurant. We were looking for authentic Maltese cuisine and found it. We ate a sheep’s cheese starter which was delicious and main course was a traditional Maltese dish Dad’s Famous Bragiolo’ which we loved. The fillet steak was ever so slightly over done for me and the peppercorn sauce was a bit thick. The potatoes were delicious - I wonder how they make potatoes so delicious! Overall - very good and would recommend.

Loved having dinner here! We were looking for traditional Maltese dishes. This place was perfect: we got a salad with Maltese gbejna cheese, and a dish of traditional Maltese rabbit. The salad was delicious with generous portions of the creamy gbejna (almost like a goat's cheese). The rabbit was amazing: pan-fried and served in a super flavorful gravy with some vegetables, and again a good portion. We also got Maltese spritzes, which were the perfect complement. Our server was great too, very friendly even though the restaurant was full and busy. This was our last meal in Malta, and we couldn't have been more satisfied. Come here!
