We ordered fried rabbit.. we were served a big bowl of rabbit pieces in tasty brown sauce.. with fresh boiled veg and potato chips. To our surprise, we were served with a small maltese platter before the meal and after the meal we had Maltese nougat and peanuts in the shells for free!

I was taken here by family and found a restaurant that seems to have stayed in the 1970s – and that’s not a criticism. Basic décor, limited range of food and bulging plates may seem unpromising but that’s the strength of this place. Unpretentious honest country fare that proudly cooks rabbit. The cooking of this Maltese staple is slightly different... More

(Before I start, please note that this unpretentious local restaurant is in a village called Bahrija which is on the outskirts of Rabat. People looking for this place will search for Bahrija and not Rabat. I suggest tripadvisor change this.) Drove to Bahrija with some friends to enjoy the fresh air and lovely scenic views available to walkers and drivers... More

We've been to north country another time before yesterday and we were really happy with the atmosphere and food, went again yesterday for the san martin fair in bahrija and it was a total disaster. We had a booking they gave us the table but did not clean up the plates of the people before us. We told them for... More

Food was well cooked, nothing extraordinary but service was efficient, the atmosphere and environment cosy and family friendly. They even provide appetizers on the table while waiting or having a drink. Prices reasonable and portions sufficient. No problem with parking. Worth the occasional drive up to Bahrija for a change. Best to book beforehand to avoid disappointment or a long... More

Go to North Country in Bahrija if you are keen for slow cooked rabbit. Also the snails - Bebbux in Maltese are delicious.

As a fan of traditional Maltese food, I went to Bahrija playing it safe as I knew that this village has a lot to offer in terms of establishments specialising in this area of foods. We opted to dine at North country Bar and Restaurant. The restaurant is small but welcoming and although the menu is a bit limited as... More

We've eaten at this restaurant more than once and every single time we were super satisfied. The food is incredibly fresh and tasty while being true to it's Maltese roots. Whether it's horse meat, rabbit or quail, the meat is served incredibly tender with a rich delicious gravy which leaves you wishing for more. Portions are abundant while price is... More

If you want to enjoy a nice quiet lunch in a semi-deserted square in the north of Malta, this is the place. Although the menu is quite limited, the chef will offer you the day's specialities not listed in the menu. The food is quite abundant and very good. The price is medium, but compared to other restaurants on the... More

Well this place never disappoints good local traditional maltese food in generous portions and some good house wine... Maybe more staff is needed since service was bit slow also it would help if menu food options are increased since the menu is a bit limited in choice of food
